As one of the ‘big six’, Tottenham Hotspur fans have been starved of success in recent history.

To try to correct that, the club have appointed a range of contrasting managers in recent years, from the more cautious José Mourinho and Antonio Conte to the uber-attacking Ange Postecoglou.

However, as most fans will probably attest, one of the major factors holding the club back is the board’s reluctance to go big in the transfer market in the same way their rivals like Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea do.

It’s a choice that baffles as much as it frustrates the fan base, as, according to a recent report from Deloitte, the club are the ninth wealthiest in world football and, on top of that, they have a decent track record of selling big stars for even bigger money, and based it looks like they could already have their future star to sell, who could go for even more money than Gareth Bale in years to come.

Spurs' biggest sales

So, before looking at the future star in question, it’s worth looking at some of Spurs’ biggest sales, starting with Bale.

The Welsh superstar joined Real Madrid in a then-world-record £85m deal in the summer of 2013, which, for a player who cost the club £10m in 2007 and had just scored 26 goals and provided ten assists in just 44 games the season prior, was probably a fair deal for all parties involved.

Now, just behind the Cardiff-born icon in terms of the transfer fee is actually Harry Kane, as while his transfer to Bayern Munich in 2023 was initially reported to have cost the Germans around £86.4m at the time, it later came out that the initial fee was likely closer to £82m.

Even so, for a player with just a year left on his deal, that still has to be looked at as a reasonably impressive fee for the Lilywhites, even if it was a particularly painful transfer for the fans.

Interestingly, the third most expensive departure isn’t even an attacker; it is Kyle Walker.

The sensational right-back joined the club in 2009 and, after spending some time on loan with Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa, would go on to make 229 appearances, in which he scored four goals and provided 18 assists, before moving to Manchester City in the summer of 2017 for around £54m, which was a world record for a defender at the time – how things change.

Yet, while all three of these sales represent brilliant business from Tottenham, it looks like they could already have a player on their hands who could go for even more in the future.

One of the few positives to come from this season for Tottenham has been the development of their youngsters.

Lucas Bergvall has been given plenty of minutes in the middle of the park, Mikey Moore has seen action from the bench and occasionally started games.

At the same time, Archie Gray has been an integral solution to the club’s nightmare injury situation, and it is he who could be the club’s next record sale.

It’s not just us saying that either, as respected football analyst Ben Mattinson described the teenage sensation as a “future £100m” player in February of last year, and in the 12 months since, that claim has started to look more and more realistic.

At the time, Mattinson highlighted his “composure and versatility” as key reasons why the then-Leeds United ace would go a long way in the game, and once again, his impact in North London this season only solidifies that claim.

For example, even though the Durham-born gem is primarily a midfielder, he has been tasked with covering at centre-back and full-back for most of the campaign, and despite his age, slight frame and inexperience in playing in defence in the top flight, he has done a seriously admirable job.

In all, the 18-year-old phenom has made 17 appearances at centre-back, seven at right-back, five at left-back, and just two in defensive midfield for the Lilywhites this season and has already become a firm fan favourite among the Spurs faithful.

Ultimately, it’s still very early days for Gray at Spurs, but as things stand, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mattinson’s claim about his future price tag rings true. However, if that is the case, we can’t imagine the fans would be particularly happy about a potential sale.

أكد الجهاز الفني لمنتخب مصر المشارك في بطولة كأس العرب بقطر في ديسمبر المقبل بقيادة حلمي طولان، أنه لا يوجد حاليًا أسماء مرشحة للانضمام للفريق.

وسيشارك منتخب مصر في بطولة كأس العرب، التي تقام في قطر، في نسختها الثانية، وتبدأ في 1 ديسمبر وتختتم بالنهائي في 18 ديسمبر.

وقال حلمي طولان في تصريحات صحفية: “ترديد أسماء لاعبين في هذا الشأن، مجرد اجتهادات لا أساس لها من الصحة، ولم يتطرق الجهاز الفني في هذه المرحلة لمناقشات من هذا النوع”.

وأردف: “هناك اتفاق بين الجهاز الفني لـ منتخب مصر المشارك في كأس العرب والاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم يقضي بأن الأولوية في اختيار اللاعبين للمنتخب الوطني الأول، بحيث يختار المنتخب الأول أولاً مَن يشاء من اللاعبين في قائمته ويعقب ذلك إعلان قائمة المنتخب المشارك في كأس العرب خلال الفترات الإعدادية التي تسبق البطولة، والباب مفتوح للجميع لتمثيل الكرة المصرية”.

وأوضح: “العمل داخل الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم يجري وفق نظام محدد في إطار عمل جماعي يخدم الكرة المصرية وأشيد بالروح التي تسود جميع الأجهزه الفنية للمنتخبات الوطنية والتي لديها هدف واحد وهو الدفاع عن ألوان منتخب مصر في كافة المحافل الدولية”.

وكان الجهاز الفني للمنتخب الوطني المشارك في كاس العرب قد عكف خلال الفترة الماضية التي تزامنت مع الأجندة الدولية على متابعة المنتخبات التي أوقعتها القرعة في مجموعة واحدة مع منتخب مصر في كأس العرب وهي منتخبات الأردن والإمارات انتظاراً للفريق الثالث من بين منتخبي الكويت وموريتانيا.

Uma prova disso foi o duelo com o Cuiabá, na última segunda-feira, quando mais de 39 mil palmeirenses foram para a arena para assistir à vitória por 1 a 0. O mais impressionante é que foi o primeiro jogo do time depois de ter sido eliminado nos pênaltis, dentro de casa, pelo São Paulo, na Copa do Brasil, em partida que entrou para a história como o maior público do Allianz com 41.361 torcedores.

– A resposta dos torcedores é para continuar, que eles acreditam na gente. Por isso eu disse que é um orgulho a cada dia que passa. Cada vez mais tenho convicção na decisão que tive de continuar a treinar neste clube. O que nossos torcedores fazem, puxando pela equipe, grande gratidão, porque nossos jogadores sentem. Não é muito normal o que tem a ver com a cultura desportiva – disse Abel Ferreira em coletiva depois do embate com o Dourado.

Até aqui, o Palmeiras tem uma média de 32.136 torcedores por jogo no Allianz Parque em 2022. Esse alto índice é explicado também pelos bons públicos que o estádio tem recebido. O ano não apenas proporcionou o maior público da história da arena, mas também abriga cinco partidas que entraram para o Top 25 do Allianz.

Outros dois anos têm o mesmo número de públicos no Top 25: 2016 e 2018, ambos com títulos brasileiros. Cada uma com seis partidas, as três temporadas despontam nesse ranking anual. Em seguida vem 2015, com 4, 2017 com 2 e 2019 com 1. Lembrando que 2020 e 2021 foram anos de pandemia que afastaram o público dos estádios.

A tendência é que mais recordes sejam batidos em termos de bilheteria e de público, quem sabe até repetir os anos que culminaram em títulos do Brasileirão, que passou a ser uma prioridade do clube para 2022, já que Abel ainda não o conquistou.

In Leeds United’s quest for promotion from the Championship this season, it’s pivotal that all the attackers live up to expectations to hand Daniel Farke the best chance of claiming a third league title of his career.

Joel Piroe has been the star man at the top end of the pitch at Elland Road, cementing his place as a regular starter, subsequently notching 15 goals in 35 matches – the most of any player in the division to date.

Manor Solomon is another player who’s thrived with consistent minutes in Yorkshire, registering 14 combined goals and assists in 2024/25 and staking his claim for a permanent move after his temporary stint.

Daniel James is the third first-team star who’s set the division alight in England’s second tier in recent months, achieving a total of 19 goal contributions, just a couple off his tally of last campaign.

However, one other has also impressed but has struggled for regular starts amid the form of other talents, restricting him to minutes off the substitutes bench.

Wilfried Gnonto’s stats for Leeds in 2024/25

After failing to secure promotion last season, many expected winger Wilfried Gnonto to depart Leeds for a Premier League side – following the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter out the door.

However, the Italian stayed put in Yorkshire but has since struggled for starts in 2024/25, starting just 20 matches and having to settle for a place on the bench.

The 21-year-old attacker has registered five goals and five assists to date, still producing an impressive record despite his lack of starting recent weeks.

Solomon and James’s recent form in the Championship has restricted him to just 35 minutes of league action in the last six weeks, with his only goal in 2025 coming in the 7-0 thrashing of Cardiff City.

He’s also been outperformed by another former Whites talent, with the club’s decision to offload him now looking to be a regret, considering his form and tender age.

The former Leeds gem who’s outperforming Gnonto

After dropping into the second tier, numerous players have moved to and from Yorkshire, something to be expected as they look to bounce back to the Premier League.

One player who left on loan in the summer was attacker Sonny Perkins, who linked up with Leyton Orient, looking to gain valuable first-team minutes to continue his progression.

The 21-year-old joined the Whites from West Ham United back in 2022 but would make just four senior appearances – leading to Rene Maric dubbing him “super talented” before being sent on loan to Oxford United for the second half of last season.

Perkins has since starred in England’s third tier since his temporary move, becoming a key player in Richie Wellens’ hopes of securing a play-off place.

Previously described as a “goal machine” by former boss Michael Skubala, his move to London is finally seeing him live up to that potential. Indeed, this campaign has seen him register 12 combined goals and assists, leading to a permanent move to the O’s in January, ending his time at Leeds.

The form of the current first team members has massively restricted his playing time at Elland Road, leading to his move away – which could prove to be a mistake down the line.

Whilst he’s featuring in a division below Gnonto, he’s still managed to register more combined goals and assists, showcasing the talent he possesses and having the platform to improve further, given his youthful years.

Given his tender age and recent form this campaign, he could develop into a quality talent, with the Whites potentially ruing their decision to permanently offload the youngster.

There’s no denying that he would once again struggle to make an impact during 2024/25, but given how he’s bettered Gnonto in recent times, he could well continue his development and show the club what they’re missing out on.

وافتتح الأهلي بطولة كأس العالم للأندية بمواجهة إنتر ميامي، الأحد الماضي، في لقاء انتهى بالتعادل السلبي، ليحصد كل فريق نقطة.

وقال حسام غالي، عبر قناة “إم بي سي مصر”: “الطقس حار، والشمس قوية جدًا، ونسأل الله ألا تؤثر على أداء اللاعبين في مباراة اليوم، التي نحتاج فيها إلى الفوز”.

Aos 20 minutos, o Fortaleza tem boa oportunidade com Romarinho após passe de Thiago Galhardo, mas o atacante acabou sendo travado na hora H. O Cuiabá não deixou barato a chance criada pelo Leão do Pici. No minuto seguinte, Rodriguinho recebeu passe de Alesson, mas acabou finalizando em cima de Fernando Miguel e jogando fora uma grande chance de gol.

O jogo ficou lá e cá. E aos 24 minutos, o zagueiro Marcelo Benevenuto acertou um belíssimo passe para Robson, que pegou de primeira na saída do goleiro Walter e inaugurou o placar a favor do Leão do Pici: 1 a 0 para o Fortaleza.

CUIABÁ TENTA, MAS FORTALEZA É MAIS PERIGOSO
Após o gol, o Cuiabá foi para cima atrás do empate. Apesar de várias finalizações, o Dourado levou pouco perigo ao gol do goleiro Fernando Miguel, do Fortaleza. O Leão do Pici também criou suas chances, mas apesar de ter levado mais perigo, não conseguiu colocar a bola para dentro e ampliar o marcador.

CUIABÁ PRESSIONA
O Cuiabá foi para segunda etapa com tudo para buscar o gol de empate. Os chutes de fora viraram a grande arma do time, mas as finalizações de Rodriguinho e Osorio acabaram sendo defendidas com muita facilidade pelo goleiro Fernando Miguel. Mas quando o goleiro não conseguiu salvar, a defesa tirou, como aconteceu, aos 11 minutos, quando Marcelo Benevenuto evitou o gol de Rodriguinho.

O Cuiabá continuou intenso na pressão e poderia ter empatado aos 23, só que Gabriel Pirani, após cruzamento de Daniel Guedes, parou no goleiro Fernando Miguel, que fez grande defesa e salvou o Fortaleza.

CUIABÁ TENTA, MAS FORTALEZA SE GARANTE
Sem conseguir contra-atacar, o Fortaleza se fechou na defesa a fim de garantir os três pontos. O Cuiabá foi para o abafa e poderia ter empatado em várias oportunidades, mas o Leão do Pici conseguiu segurar a pressão e garantir o importante triunfo em busca da fuga do rebaixamento.

In what could be their first move after potential promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United and the 49ers have now reportedly set their sights on signing one particular reinforcement on loan.

As is often the case, the Championship campaign remains in the balance heading into the final two months with Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United all vying for automatic promotion.

As things stand, it is those at Elland Road who will be sweating the most after their 2-2 draw against Queens Park Rangers saw Sheffield United draw level on points at the top of the league and Burnley move within two points of the automatic promotion places. With eight games to go, Daniel Farke will simply be desperate to get his side over the line.

Failing to achieve promotion for the second time under Farke could yet result in another exodus of talent in a repeat of last summer. Promotion, meanwhile, could spark the beginning of a summer to remember if the Whites get things right on and off the pitch.

On that front, a number of potential targets have been mentioned in recent weeks, but one name continues to stand out. According to Graeme Bailey via Leeds United News, the 49ers and Leeds are now plotting a move to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City this summer in what would be his third short-term spell away from The Etihad.

The midfielder has looked more and more desperate for a fresh start ever since completing a move to Manchester City in 2022 and could now at least get an Elland Road reunion.

Following a mixed spell on loan at Ipswich Town, a return to where he was at his best may well provide Phillips with the answers he craves in pursuit of getting back to the player he was in West Yorkshire.

"Fantastic" Phillips needs Leeds return

Out of all the moves that take place this summer, Phillips’ potential return to Leeds is among those that would make most sense if they achieve promotion this season. The midfielder desperately needs a return – perhaps more than they need him – and could instantly reward Farke using his vast Premier League experience.

Having shown glimpses of his quality at Portman Road this season, Kieran McKenna has been full of praise for Phillips at times, telling reporters in the early stages of his move: “As I said when he arrived, he’s followed a very similar pathway to a lot of our players. He’s climbed a mountain, he’s done terrific in his career.

“He went from being a player who played in the Championship for four, five, six seasons, whatever he did, to being part of a newly-promoted team that went to the Premier League, attacked the Premier League, and did fantastic in that division.”

Reportedly earning £8m a year, Leeds would certainly need to negotiate some leeway with Manchester City to make the move happen, but it’s one they should work hard to complete this summer nonetheless.
