Southampton fans’ amazing reactions to club openly backing Mark Hughes

[ad_pod ]

It is safe to say Southampton are underperforming in the Premier League, and yet their manager’s job appears to be safe.

In 12 league games, the Saints have scored just eight times and sit on the cusp of the relegation zone with only Huddersfield and Fulham picking up fewer points.

The board, though, don’t appear to be concerned, at least over the future of the club’s manager, Mark Hughes, who currently holds the lowest win percentage of any manager at the club since 2010.

Recent changes have been made, however, as the board dismissed long-term chairman Les Reed.

Now, Sky Sports News understands that the St Mary’s club are to back Mark Hughes and fund any new potential additions in the January market.

Astonishingly the only sour note to come out of Southampton on the Welshman is that there is an agreement that they should have picked up at least one more win based on their performances, believing there is no crisis state yet at Staplewood.

These Southampton fans are certainly amazed…

Tottenham should move for Marcelo Brozovic to strengthen midfield options

[ad_pod ]

Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic impressed alongside Luka Modric for Croatia despite their 2-1 defeat to England at Wembley on Sunday, and Tottenham Hotspur should look to sign the 26-year-old to strengthen their options in the middle of the park.

What’s the word, then?

Well, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino seems set to undertake a shake-up of his midfield in the near future, with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama both linked with moves away from the north London outfit.

The Argentine boss will want an established individual to come in if Tottenham do choose to cash in on both of those players, and Brozovic could be a great option.

The Inter star, rated at £36m by Transfermarkt, has established himself as a key player for the Serie A giants over the course of the last couple of years, and he has scored 20 goals and provided a further 19 assists in 127 appearances in all competitions.

Why should Tottenham sign him?

Brozovic has formed a strong partnership with Modric in the middle of the park for Croatia, and he needed to up his game following the news that Ivan Rakitic had been ruled out of featuring at Wembley because of injury.

The 26-year-old certainly did that, and he outshone the former Spurs man alongside him statistically with an impressive display against Gareth Southgate’s men.

Watch Playmaker FC’s Thogden react to England’s dramatic second-half comeback against Croatia in the video below…

The Inter man impressed from an attacking point of view by having one shot, making three key passes (one more than Modric) and successfully completing two dribbles, while his overall passing accuracy was just under 94%, as per WhoScored.

Brozovic also showed that the defensive side of his game is strong too after making three tackles, three interceptions and three clearances, as well as blocking one shot.

If Pochettino wants to bring an all-round midfielder to the club, attempting to sign the Croatian seems like a no-brainer.

Liverpool fans react to Guardiola comments on Klopp

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to some comments from Pep Guardiola, as the Manchester City boss shared some insight into his rivalry with Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

It’s always fascinating to get a glimpse inside the mind of a top manager, and Guardiola revealed just how much Liverpool are affecting him on Wednesday.

Speaking at The University of Liverpool’s Peers Annual Lecture, the charismatic Spaniard said he no longer has time to read because all he can think about is Klopp.

“I love to read, but I don’t read,” he said. “I start to read and then I start to think Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp and I cannot focus!”

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has had an intense rivalry with the Reds’s boss since Klopp’s days at Borussia Dortmund, albeit a rivalry built mostly on respect.

Klopp’s side are currently just two points behind the Guardiola’s irresistible Cityzens, and have lost just one of the last eight meetings between the pair.

Reds’ fans suspected they were living in Pep’s head after his recent comments about Raheem Sterling’s controversial penalty, and they’re this as well.

HYS: Does Lovren deserve to be dropped for Liverpool’s Paris Saint-Germain showdown?

Dejan Lovren certainly divides opinion at Liverpool and around the football globe.

This season, the Croatia international has spent the majority of it spent on the sidelines.

Lovren began the campaign on the treatment table after picking up an abdominal injury at the World Cup.

His absence allowed Joe Gomez to step in and show Jurgen Klopp that he deserves to be Virgil van Dijk’s permanent centre-back partner.

The England international has certainly demonstrated that he is worthy of the first-choice position, but at the weekend, Lovren gave the manager something to think about.

Gomez missed the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road due to a minor ankle injury that he picked up in training.

Check out the video below to see how Brazil fans reacted to being asked how Cristiano Ronaldo would perform for them in a hilarious prank by Playmaker FC…

Lovren had an impressive performance at the back, but it is likely that he will have to step aside on Wednesday night if Gomez is fit for the Champions League group clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Taking into account the Croatian’s positive display against Watford, who should start at Parc des Princes?

Hoolahan must go in January if Barnes stays at West Brom

According to The Express and Star, West Brom manager Darren Moore has met with owner Guochuan Lai about the upcoming transfer window.

The club are currently in an overdraft, and will perhaps not spend lavishly in January. Then again, promotion back to the Premier League will be the most lucrative thing for the club, meaning they may need to spend a little.

In order to do so, however, they will probably need to free up their wage bill. One man that may be deemed surplus to requirements is 36-year-old Wes Hoolahan. The Republic of Ireland international has only featured four times in the Championship this season, all of which were from the bench.

The veteran will be taking up a portion of the wage bill, and seeing as he neither seems one for the present or the future, The Baggies should let him go. His contract expires at the end of 2018, and it would seem bizarre for them to give him a new one when he has been largely anonymous during the first half of the season.

However, there is the caveat that he should go only if star man Harvey Barnes remains. The 20-year-old has been sensational for the club so far this term, and rumours have subsequently surfaced that he may be returning to parent club Leicester.

Should Barnes leave, then Hoolahan may be a handy replacement to have at the club, as The Baggies pursue promotion over the second half of the season. Should he stay, then it’s simple, Hooloan will be contributing nothing at the club.

Charlton fans on Twitter are stunned as Nicky Ajose nets against Portsmouth

[ad_pod ]

Charlton fans on Twitter were stunned on Tuesday evening as much maligned striker Nicky Ajose came off the bench to score in the first-half during the 2-1 win over league leaders Portsmouth.

Charlton took the lead at Fratton Park after just 23 minutes as Karlan Grant slid in to finish Lyle Taylor’s cross, netting his 11th league goal of the season in the process.

However, the 21-year-old seemed to pull a muscle and he was forced off just over 10 minutes later, with 27-year-old Ajose being sent on by Lee Bowyer to replace him.

Ajose has taken plenty of criticism from Charlton fans since he signed for the club from Swindon in the summer of 2016, and he has already spent two loan spells away.

However, on the stroke of half-time the Englishman scored from close range to give the Addicks an unexpected two goal lead going into the break.

Pompey pulled one back in the second-half through Andre Green, but Bowyer’s side held on, and fans of the club on Twitter were delighted with Ajose.

Rangers fans blast McAuley display vs Rapid Wien

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Rangers fans have been reacting to their Europa League exit, and they’re not too happy with the performance of Gareth McAuley.

It’s no coincidence that Rangers have gone off the boil since Steven Gerrard started toying around with different centre back pairings.

Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic were excellent to start the season, but the introductions of Joe Worrall and more recently McAuley have disrupted what was a really solid back line.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below...

Katic now seems completely bereft of confidence, perhaps why Gerrard elected for McAuley alongside Goldson in Thursday’s crucial Europa League clash.

The hosts were there for the taking in Vienna, but the Gers were far too conservative and particularly poor in the second half.

McAuley certainly wasn’t the worst player on the pitch, but fans aren’t happy with the final signing of the summer.

The 39 year-old is supposed to add leadership and experience at the back, but if anything he actually made things more nervy and disorganised.

Gerrard’s decision to change his centre back pairing so regularly is well and truly backfiring, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Tottenham fans doubt deal for Adrien Rabiot

[ad_pod ]

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur have approached Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Rabiot has made over 200 appearances for PSG since debuting during the 2012-13 campaign, and has developed into a key player for the French giants.

The midfielder’s current deal with PSG will expire at the end of this season, however, and it is understood that he is currently refusing to pen an extension.

Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old, but according to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham have now made an offer.

There is absolutely no question that Rabiot – who has won an incredible 17 trophies during his time in Paris – is an excellent talent.

However, the midfielder’s temperament was called into question when he refused to be on France’s standby list for the 2018 World Cup.

The Tottenham fans have been on social media offering their views on the situation, and it would be fair to say that a number are not confident in chairman Daniel Levy pulling off the deal.

Revealed: 88% of West Brom fans want Andy King

[ad_pod ]

The Daily Mail reported earlier in December that West Brom are interested in signing out-of-favour Leicester City midfielder Andy King in the upcoming January transfer window.

King is something of a legend at the King Power Stadium. Having graduated from their academy in 2004, the 50-cap Wales international has been a mainstay for the Foxes throughout their rise to the top flight, winning League One and Championship titles along the way. The midfielder also featured in the club’s historic 2015/16 Premier League title triumph.

Who are the best away fans in the Championship? Playmaker FC’s Thogden gives his top 10 in the video below…

However, the 30-year-old is now clearly surplus to requirements under Claude Puel, who hasn’t even registered him for his Premier League squad this season. King must now seek pastures new in order to get his career back on track.

The Hawthorns would be the ideal destination for King, as he could have a big impact in Darren Moore’s squad as the Baggies seek promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Plenty of West Brom fans certainly seem keen on King. Of those who took part in our poll, 88% voted in favour of signing the Leicester man. See the full results below.

Luka Jovic is clearly the striker Everton have been crying out for

Everton should begin their search for a top quality striker in the forthcoming January transfer window.

Marco Silva has been unable to rely on Cenk Tosun since replacing Sam Allardyce in the summer. The Turkish international has struggled massively since joining the Toffees last January from Besiktas. Silva has often utilised record signing Richarlison in a central role, but the Brazilian looks far more dangerous on his favoured left wing.

The Blues made plenty of astute purchases in the summer transfer window and will be hoping for similar success in January. Signing a top class forward will be top of Marcel Brands to-do-list. Bolstering Everton’s firepower could be crucial to securing European football at Goodison Park next season.

One man who should be on his list of targets is Frankfurt forward – Luka Jovic. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the forward moved to the Bundesliga on loan in the summer and has been an instant hit in Germany. Jovic has set the league alight, netting an incredible 12 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances. The forward has also been in fine form in the Europa League, finding the back of the net five times in just six showings.

His incredible performances during his temporary spell will definitely increase interest in his signature when the January transfer window opens. Jovic is a powerful forward who would have no issues adapting to the physicality of England and would slot seamlessly into Silva’s 4-2-3-1 system on Merseyside. Still only 20-years-old, the Serbia international is still developing and improving – he would flourish under Silva’s leadership.

Benfica would demand a pretty penny to secure his services, but this is a statement signing that the Toffees should make if they are serious about qualifying for Europe.
