أفادت تقارير صحفية إنجليزية، أن نادي ليفربول يرغب في التعاقد مع الموهبة البرازيلية كيكي دا سيلفا، مهاجم فلومينينسي، خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية.

موقع “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية، أفاد أن ليفربول يتابع كيكي منذ فترة طويلة، وكذلك في مباريات منتخب البرازيل تحت 17 عامًا.

بدأ ليفربول يتواصل مع وكيل اللاعب الشاب، خاصة بعد أن علم الريدز باهتمام شاختار وتقديم عرض لضم كيكي.

Roma are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko, per Leggo.

What’s the word?

The report states that the Serie A club are keen to recruit a new central midfielder and are seeking to complete a deal for Jordan Veretout, the Fiorentina ace.

However, Franco Baldini, the former Spurs Director of Football, is said to have suggested Sissoko as an alternative.

Nevertheless, Leggo report that the club remain hopeful of securing Veretout’s signature by Wednesday.

Sissoko, then, appears to be very much the back-up option.

Expensive deal

Good luck extricating Sissoko from Spurs.

He enjoyed perhaps the best season of his career in 2018/19, playing a key role in midfield as Mauricio Pochettino’s men reached the Champions League final and finished in the top four.

He cost the club £30m when he joined from Newcastle United and, while he was a figure of fun at the beginning of his Tottenham career, he has blossomed into one of the most crucial figures in the squad.

Indeed, Sissoko made a total of 44 appearances for Spurs last season.

With Daniel Levy’s fierce negotiating skills and Sissoko’s importance to the club, this feels like a remarkably optimistic strategy from Roma.

They had better hope they get Veretout; there appears precious little chance of luring Sissoko to Italy.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are prepared to keep Divock Origi for the 2019/20 campaign and allow him to leave on a free next summer when his contract expires if need be, regardless of if he signs a new deal.

What’s the word, then?

Well, contract talks do seem to be progressing well after positive talks were held, and the Belgian is now on holiday considering the ‘lucrative’ offer handed to him by the Reds.

Origi emerged as somewhat of a fan favourite last term due to his knack of bagging hugely important goals. The 96th-minute strike to win the Merseyside derby at Anfield kicked off a string of iconic strikes from the 6 foot 1 striker, and famous goals against Barcelona and Tottenham helped the Reds win their sixth major European cup.

His impact off the bench was vital for Jurgen Klopp, and the Liverpool No.27 has risen from enduring an underwhelming loan spell with Wolfsburg in 2017/18 to becoming a hero at Anfield.

Liverpool have their stance on Origi spot on

Whilst it would be sad if Origi left for free next summer if he didn’t agree terms on a new deal this year, Liverpool have their stance on the Belgian’s future spot on.

Losing him this summer when no new faces have been brought in to improve the first team would presumably cause uproar amongst some of the supporters, who are keen to see some signings come in through the door.

Additionally, first choice striker Roberto Firmino is currently on Copa America duty and will be granted an extended holiday, meaning he won’t have a full pre-season with the Reds – he should make the start of the campaign, but Klopp may presumably leave him out in a bid to get him up to speed whilst Origi gets some starts.

The Belgian will almost definitely get his chances in pre-season to stake a claim for a starting spot, and if he can start the season on fire whilst Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane recover from their summer exploits with their respective nations, it could be pivotal in helping Liverpool realise their ambitions for the campaign.

No matter if he leaves for free next summer, Origi must be kept on to in the here and now – the decision not to offload him is a wise one from Michael Edwards and Liverpool.

David Gold and David Sullivan simply have to avoid the pull of signing Mario Balotelli this summer.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the former Manchester City and Liverpool striker has been offered to the club after his contract at Marseille expired.

Now, one feels that this might be a classic piece of Hammers transfer activity.

Balotelli is a recognisable name; he has played for major European clubs; he has Premier League experience; he would sell shirts.

And yet, quite frankly, he’s nothing short of a bad influence.

He has been through a laundry list of genuinely astonishing behaviour, from setting his own bathroom on fire with fireworks to allegedly paying a restaurant owner to drive a moped into the sea.

West Ham are desperate to sign a striker, of course they are. They have lost Marko Arnautovic to Shanghai SIPG and have allowed both Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll to leave the club. Javier Hernandez and Jordan Hugill are the sole striking survivors.

There is, of course, a case to be made for this deal but you won’t find it here.

Balotelli has had his chance in the Premier League and it was categorised by peaks – the majority of his time at City – and troughs – his four-goal spell at Liverpool.

And Arnautovic’s departure should teach both Gold and Sullivan a lesson.

The Austria international was an equally controversial figure and twice asked to leave, doing so firstly in January.

Bringing in another firebrand, another figure who cannot be trusted to keep his name out of the headlines from one day to the next makes precious little sense.

The answer has to be a rather firm no to the representatives who have reached out to the Hammers; Balotelli cannot be allowed to bring his brand of controversy to east London.

Sometimes you’ve got to take a step back to take two steps forward.

After finishing sixth in the Premier League last season, Manchester United face the ignominy of Thursday night football, likely traipsing to the far reaches of Europe to play teams most of us have never heard of.

But whilst the turnout is likely to be sparse, the away trips to unknown places tiring, and the prospect of Thursday night football hardly something to shout about, it could very well be a brilliant blessing.

As European football’s ‘second-tier’ competition, there is certainly far less riding on it than a typical Champions League game. The glitz and glam is non-existent, and whilst UEFA have tried their best to replicate a similar atmosphere, it simply doesn’t get away from the fact that it doesn’t involve the biggest and best Europe has to offer. But, what it does allow for, is a platform for lesser teams, and in United’s case, players, to shine.

Arsenal’s Europa League run last year saw them field a host of youngsters, particularly in the opening group stages, and a few of them have now featured prominently in pre-season. Academy products and fringe stars got the chance to play regularly and get exposure to senior football. For United, that could be crucial.

Pre-season has already shown that the Red Devils have an abundance of youth talent just waiting to burst through, but they need proper opportunities during the season.

If the Red Devils were in the Champions League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would feel very hesitant to throw them in at the deep end. The Europa League allows the United boss a safety net of knowing that his teenage stars could quite conceivably handle themselves against the calibre of opposition they will be facing.

After a quite difficult period following Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, United are undoubtedly in rebuild mode. Affording valuable first-team minutes to the likes of Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes will stand them in good stead and help progress their development much quicker. Academy football is all well and good, but seeing if you can cut it against fellow senior players is where rising stars either sink or swim.

In United’s case this season, the Europa League could well turn out to be a silver lining amidst all their recent struggles and a golden chance for Solskjaer to test his pre-season starlets in real competitive action, furthering their development for greater challenges down the line.
