Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth has agreed a move away from the club, bringing an end, for the time being, to his spell with the Eagles.

Reported by the club’s official website, Sorloth has completed a move to Trabzonspor on a loan deal which will take him through to the end of the 2020/21 season. Upon his arrival in Croydon back in January 2018, the Norwegian was thought to have cost £9m from FC Midtjylland and Roy Hodgson had high hopes for him, though the player did little to justify his fee.

Frankly, Sorloth has failed to impress since moving to Selhurst Park and had a miserable goalscoring record with the club, with the striker failing to hit the net once in the Premier League.

Palace will not feel the loss of Sorloth too much though given his goalscoring record and the fact he wasn’t around last season while spending time on loan with Gent.

According to the Guardian’s season preview for the Eagles, the club are hamstrung by their wage budget when it comes to looking to bring in new players, so perhaps getting a player off the books for a season could be a good move. While it’s not clear as to what the arrangement is, Sorloth himself has been reported to earn £20k-p/w by SpotRac, so removing at least some of that may help free up space.

وأكمل: “في الربع ساعة الأخيرة، انقلبت المباراة، في غضون 10 دقائق تحديدًا، سجل ليستر سيتي ثلاثة أهداف”.

واختتم: “ما حدث كان انهيارًا، فريقنا انهار في الدقائق الأخيرة بسبب سوء التفاهم، كانت نهاية صعبة ولا نستحقها”.

Just how do Manchester United get back to the top of the Premier League? The club have had several attempts to do since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013, and it doesn’t really feel like they’re getting any closer. Last season was arguably one of the worst in recent memory, as the Red Devils slipped to a disappointing sixth-placed finish and ended the campaign with an embarrassing pair of results to already-relegated Huddersfield and Cardiff.

So when the club announced early deals for Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it felt like United were moving in the right direction, signing young talents with promising futures. All it needed was a few more ready-made players able to come in and stamp their authority on the side immediately.

Instead, United have been left scrambling around trying to complete deals for Harry Maguire and Sean Longstaff, whilst the futures of some of their high-profile stars remain uncertain.

It’s therefore all the more perplexing that following the side’s rather uninspiring 1-0 win over Kristiansund in pre-season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed to downplay the extent of the rebuilding job on his hands. He said: “We’re working on one or two cases. It’s 10 days or so before we start the league and hopefully we can announce a fresh face or two.”

Just one or two? Really? United finished a staggering 32 points behind their ‘noisy neighbours’ Manchester City last season, and yet Solskjaer is saying that the club would be happy to get just a couple more signings through the door? The Red Devils are in desperate need of a squad shake-up, whether that’s moving players on who don’t want to be at the club or bringing in bona-fide talents to help spruce the existing team up.

Players are just like everyday fans, waiting to see what their club does in the transfer market and seeing new players potentially joining them. It can often galvanise the mood around a dressing room knowing that the club have made a huge splash in the window. The Red Devils perhaps more than any other side in the proverbial ‘big six’ are in major need of something to uplift them. It’s imperative that rather than just the “fresh face or two” Solskjaer has hinted at, the last week of the transfer window sees major transfer activity for the Manchester side.

Aurier made just eight Premier League appearances in 2018/19, although the England international ahead of him has since departed the club.

However, it appears that Mauricio Pochettino has opted for Kyle Walker-Peters as his new right-back following Trippier’s exit, with the 22-year-old being selected to start the season opener against Aston Villa.

AC Milan are also showing an interest in the 26-year-old, although selling the Ivorian could leave Spurs in a worrying position.

After Trippier left for Atletico Madrid, Spurs didn’t sign another right-back, so Aurier and Walker-Peters are the only natural options for that role at the club.

If PSG – with all their financial might – decide to swoop in and take Aurier back to the French capital, Tottenham would be left with very few options at right-back.

Loads of Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Alexander Sorloth bagged another goal for Trabzonspor.

The Norway international joined the Turkish side on a two-year loan deal in the summer transfer window, after a turbulent spell in south London which saw him net just a single goal in 20 appearances – he also spent time out on loan with Gent last term.

Presumably surprising some Palace fans who may have written him off due to his awful form, the 23-year-old has now bagged two goals in two games for Trabzonspor with his latest strike helping them progress into the next round of Europa League qualifying.

Sorloth is still fairly young and one feels that his time at Palace isn’t over yet – his encouraging form in Turkey is definitely enough to back that up.

وقال ماني في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ميرور” الإنجليزية: “هذه المباراة لم تكن أفضل ذكرى لنا في بداية الموسم، ولكن في كرة القدم عليك أن تتوقع كل شيء، لأن كل شيء يمكن أن يحدث”.

وأضاف السنغالي: “لقد أصيب أفضل المدافعين في العالم في تلك المباراة، فان دايك، كذلك أصيب ألكانتارا في هذا اللقاء الذي كان الأول له أساسيًا، وغاب لفترة من الوقت، وكان هناك قرار إلغاء هدف بسبب التسلل، كان الأمر معقدًا، ولكنه أصبح من الماضي”.

وواصل: “سنرى ما سيحدث غدًا، سنبذل قصارى جهدنا من أجل الفوز بالمباراة”.

وبسؤاله عما إذا كانت ستكون معركة جسدية أخرى، أوضح ماني: “بالتأكيد، لكن في الدوري الإنجليزي لا يقتصر الأمر على إيفرتون، بل كل مباراة على حدة، يجب أن يكون كذلك”.

Liverpool need to enter talks with Joel Matip over a new contract before his head is turned by a move elsewhere.

The Cameroon international has started the season in fine form and his performance against Arsenal has been praised by many, including his manager.

Matip opened the scoring for The Reds with a rare header, before shutting out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just at the exact moment the Arsenal man looked destined to score.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp said: “It was all around a really good performance and Joel, for sure it was his best game of the season.”

It was a performance the 28-year-old needed to put in, too, as he faces strong competition for his place this season from Joe Gomez. The former Charlton defender is back from injury and started Liverpool’s opening Premier League match against Norwich, and his presence could explain the central defender’s upturn in form.

However, Matip has often been an influential figure for the Liverpool defence when he has featured, and has complemented and worked well with Virgil van Dijk, who often gets the plaudits ahead of his centre back partner.

In the 17 Premier League games Matip started last season, Liverpool conceded just 11 goals, and without Alisson in the side his experience and reliability will be invaluable to his teammates and to Klopp.

Long-term future?

Matip has been at Liverpool for three years now and although his signing can be considered a success – particularly as he joined on a free – he is still yet to cement his place in the side or make the impact van Dijk did when he arrived.

The 6ft 5 centre-back has only made more than 25 Premier League starts in one of his three seasons, but he did feature regularly in both of Liverpool’s Champions League runs over the last couple of years and his departure would be a significant loss.

As a result, it is vital that Liverpool tie him down for the foreseeable future. He is part of the furniture at Anfield now and a good player to have in the dressing room, particularly for young players like Joe Gomez or Ki-Jana Hoever.

Liverpool cannot afford to lose a player of his quality to a rival either, especially as it will cost a considerable amount to replace him with a player of his calibre.

The club should look to make an offer soon or risk losing him to a European rival on a pre-contract agreement after the turn of the year.
