Newcastle United’s takeover appears to be edging ever closer to completion with this week a pivotal target mentioned by many.

A Saudi-backed consortium, fronted by Amanda Staveley, are the prospective owners trying to purchase the northeast giants from Sports Direct mogul Mike Ashley in a deal thought to be worth around £300m.

The controversial 55-year-old has been at the helm for 13 years and it appears that, despite his likely exit, his behaviour hasn’t changed whatsoever.

According to Lee Ryder in a recent Chronicle Live column,

“Back at St James’ Park, Mike Ashley is understood to have offered very little in terms of guidance to current staff – even those down the corridors of power with even managing director Lee Charnley learning very little on takeover talk from the Sports Direct magnate.

“It is believed that only one or two financial enquiries have been fielded by Ashley during the last two months.”

Many have bemoaned his lack of communication in the past whilst his relationship with the Magpies faithful has been labelled as “broken.”

Ryder claims that Ashley has barely spoken to the current staff at the club, even those with substantial power such as managing director Lee Charnley.

It means many are unsure over what is going to happen, especially if the new owners are to keep them on or bring in their own people – which could appear to be the case with one report from L’Equipe, via Sport Witness, suggesting they would introduce both a sporting and academy director.

يعقد مسؤولو نادي الزمالك، جلسة مع مهاجم الفريق مروان حمدي من أجل حسم مصيره، خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الحالية.

مروان حمدي كان قد أنضم إلي الزمالك، في يناير الماضي قادماً من صفوف مصر للمقاصة في صفقة بلغت 13 مليون جنيه.

وعلم بطولات أن اللاعب يمتلك بعض العروض، على أن يتم حسم أمره بعد توضيح موقفه من جانب إدارة النادي سواء بالرحيل أو استمراره، خلال الجلسة المذكورة.

وأشار مصدر لـ بطولات أن الاتجاه يسير إلي رحيل مروان حمدي عن صفوف الفريق في فترة الانتقالات الجارية حيث شهدت الأيام الماضية التناقش بين مسئولي الزمالك واللاعب حول مصيره.

وكان الزمالك قد أتم التعاقد مع صفقتين جديدين في الانتقالات الحالية، وهما عمر كمال عبد الواحد من المصري ومحمود شبانة مدافع أسوان.

ويستعد الزمالك لمواجهة أسوان، في نصف نهائي كأس مصر، والمقرر إقامتها 2 من شهر أكتوبر المقبل.

According to the ever-reliable Dan Kilpatrick at the Evening Standard, Jan Vertonghen is expected to complete the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign as a Spurs player before leaving the club on a free.

At 33 years of age, it can be argued that is is indeed time for a fresh change in Mourinho’s inherited backline. But the following months leading into the new season are going to be far from the norm.

It’s believed that Spurs will only be able to operate in the free-agent market as well as through negotiating swap deals because of how severely this pandemic has hit finances in the top-flight.

This effectively means that Vertonghen’s successor is going to either be a freebie or from within – now you may cry for Japhet Tanganga, but he’s shown in glimpses that he’s still some way off being a regular first-choice central defender.

There’s not much out there in free agency either, veteran duo Giorgio Chiellini and Thiago Silva are both out of contract, but why get rid of the Belgian only to bring in two players who are much older?

Spurs’ biggest problem right now is in defence, which can be seen in their shocking figures. They rank joint-worst for goals conceded amongst the Premier League’s ‘top ten’.

By removing a centre-back from the equation, when there’s no sufficient backup and no money to spend, you’re effectively sleepwalking the club into major danger.

Take John Terry, for instance, he played on at Chelsea until he was about 36. He may not have featured as much in his final season, but there’s no denying that his influence on and off the pitch was pivotal to them clinching the title.

Vertonghen has clearly still got it in his locker having played 26 times this term. Heck, the veteran defender still gets selected for Belgium.

Spurs would be a stronger side with the centre-back still around next season – at the very, very least he deserves a proper send-off after racking up well over 300 appearances in north London.

ويستعد الزمالك للقاء أسوان في الدور نصف النهائي لبطولة كأس مصر، والمقرر له يوم 2 أكتوبر المقبل باستاد السويس الجديد.

وقال المدير الفني في تصريحات خاصة للموقع الرسمي للزمالك:” النادي قدم عرضا جيدا للاعب، وسينتظر عودته من المغرب لحسم المفاوضات، خاصة أن بن شرقي لاعب مهم بصفوف الفريق الأبيض”.

يذكر أن عقد أشرف بن شرقي ينتهي مع الزمالك بنهاية الموسم المقبل مما يتيح له فرصة التوقيع لأي ناد خلال يناير المقبل.

ChronicleLive reporter Lee Ryder has fired blame at outgoing Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley for the contract situation surrounding talented young midfielder Matty Longstaff.

The 20-year-old is out of contract this summer and it appears as if there has been no hint over a possible extension with the Sports Direct mogul firmly set on finally leaving the Magpies after a tumultuous 13 years at the helm.

Speaking to the ‘Everything is Black and White’ podcast earlier this week, Ryder said:

“He is weeks away from walking away from Newcastle United after scoring the winner against Manchester United on his debut.

“He could have gone on loan to League Two – he ended up playing Premier League football.

“For him to not even be around the table now seems really controversial. It’s the stubbornness of Mike Ashley not wanting to pay the going rate.

“Just because he is a local lad, it does not mean he should have to play for less.”

It’s clearly a precarious situation as the club could soon lose one of the most promising academy graduates for free, all because Ashley is staying on brand with his terrible control of the club.

Longstaff has only featured 13 times this campaign but has clearly been earmarked for the future by current manager Steve Bruce, who waxed lyrical about him following his debut match-winner against Manchester United back in October.

Empréstimo encaminhado, mas não fechado

De acordo com apuração do Lance!, o jogador tem a saída do clube espanhol encaminhada, e o provável destino é o Lyon, da França. Endrick não tem feito parte dos planos do técnico Xabi Alonso. Na atual temporada, o brasileiro entrou em campo por apenas 11 minutos na goleada por 4 a 0 sobre o Valencia, pela La Liga.

O empréstimo de Endrick para o Lyon ainda não está fechado, uma vez que existe a chance de pintar uma oportunidade melhor na janela de transferências de janeiro. Contudo, a proximidade de um acordo é real. A motivação pela saída do atacante tem como foco a participação na Copa do Mundo de 2026.

Chelsea will be hoping to make amends for their shock defeat against West Ham by returning to winning ways against Watford this evening.

David Moyes’ side threw a spanner in the works for the Blues, who are desperate to clinch Champions League football next season. Although Chelsea are still fourth, Manchester United have closed the gap to just two points as of this morning.

Frank Lampard and his men will need to bounce back with a statement to show they are the ones who should be finishing fourth. A home match against a struggling Watford could be exactly the opportunity they need to get back on form.

After a weak return to action, the Hornets are now just one point clear of the relegation zone. Sinking into the bottom three is very much a reality unless they can find points from somewhere. However, judging by Chelsea’s ruthless nature in front of goal (fourth-highest scorers in the league), it’s not going to be an easy task to swipe a result from the Blues.

Lampard will no doubt be looking to Willian to continue his fine attacking form. Since the restart, the Brazilian has netted three goals in three Premier League appearances, including his match-winning penalty against Manchester City (via Transfermarkt). Willian also provided the assist for Ross Barkley’s FA Cup quarter-final winner over Leicester.

According to WhoScored, the 31-year-old has averaged a higher passing accuracy (82.3%) and more key passes per match (two) than Mohamed Salah this season, with 76.4% and 1.8 respectively for the Blues winger.

وقال توخيل في مؤتمر صحفي نشرته شبكة “فوتبول لندن” الإنجليزية: “بوليسيتش لم يتدرب معنا، إنه ما زال في تلك الفترة التي ستستغرق 10 أيام قبل عودته إلى الملاعب، ولا يزال يخضع للعلاج والتدريب الفردي”.

وكان كريستيان بوليسيتش قد اُصيب بفيروس كورونا قبل 3 أسابيع، ولكنه تعافى منه ثم تعرض لإصابة في الكاحل.

وأضاف: “بالنسبة لـ كانتي، فقد خاض جلستين تدريبتين أمس واليوم، ولكن مباراة دوري أبطال أوروبا تأتي في وقت مبكر جدًا، لن نخاطر الآن في تلك اللحظة من الموسم”.

وواصل: “لذلك قررنا أن نمنح كانتي تدريبات إضافية غدًا، ثم سيحصل على يوم عطلة معنا جميعًا، وبعد ذلك سيعود إلى التدريبات يوم الخميس والجمعة والسبت، ليكون لائقًا تمامًا وجاهزًا لمواجهة توتنهام”.

وتجددت إصابة نجولو كانتي في الكاحل، بعدما تعرض لتدخل من لاعب ليفربول ساديو ماني، خلال مباراة الفريقين قبل أسبوعين في الدوري الإنجليزي.
