That’s according to Sky Sports, who claimed that several top-flight clubs are eyeing up a swoop for the Norwich City sensation ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

It’s thought that enquires have been made for the 24-year-old midfielder, with Aston Villa and Spurs’ arch-rivals Arsenal also mooted with interest in the report.

Buendia will not come cheap, though, as the promoted Canaries value him in the region of £35m to £40m, a claim which has been backed up by The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Writing in his usual Monday column, the ever-reliable journalist claimed that the Norfolk outfit are expected to lose the Argentine this summer but will not accept less than £40m for him.

Eriksen-like playmaker

Despite the eye-watering price tag, this is a move that Daniel Levy absolutely must make, regardless of who is taking charge in the dugout next season. A player of Buendia’s quality could be paramount, with the Lilywhites’ next boss likely having to navigate through a squad overhaul.

Truth be told, Spurs have been lacking in the number 10 role for well over a year now, with none of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso or Dele Alli adequately stepping up to fill the void left behind by Christian Eriksen.

For example, this Premier League season alone, the trio have combined for a paltry four goals and four assists, as per WhoScored.

The best from Spurs’ three current number 10 options is Lo Celso (0.8), with Heung-min Son (two) topping the charts, so that speaks volumes.

This is where Buendia could be the ideal fix, off the back of what has been a career year for the midfielder. As per Transfermarkt, he registered a whopping 15 goals and 17 assists, returns which have seen him win the Championship’s Player of the Season award.

Furthermore, the Argentine maestro averaged 3.1 key passes per game, more than the Spurs trio of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Alli combined, so there’s no denying that he’s a major source of creativity behind the striker.

It is no wonder that Norwich teammate Ben Gibson once lauded him as a “very special talent,” whilst Buendia’s manager Daniel Farke believes he is a “game-changer.”

His experience in the Premier League is an added bonus, as he’s done it before in the big time, delivering seven assists in Norwich’s relegation side in 2019/20.

If there’s one signing Levy needs to make this summer, it’s Buendia.

وودع مانشستر يونايتد البطولة الأوروبية، حيث لم يحقق الفوز في مباراة الذهاب واكتفى بالتعادل الإيجابي بهدف لمثله.

وانتشر مقطع فيديو ظهر فيه عدد من مشجعي مانشستر يونايتد خارج الملعب، مساء أمس، حيث شنوا هجومًا على ماركوس راشفورد خلال توجهه إلى الحافلة.

وانفعل راشفورد غضبًا مما حدث وتوجه إلى أحد المشجعين الذي تفوه بكلمات ضده، قبل أن يمنعه الأمن، بينما قال البعض إنه وجه إشارة مسيئة للمشجع.

وأصدر راشفورد بيانًا مطولًا عبر حسابه الشخصي بموقع تويتر، حيث كتب “لكل قصة وجهان، يمكن أن يكتب مقطع فيديو ألف كلمة وفي هذه الحالة يؤدي إلى مشاركة معلومات غير دقيقة على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي”.

واستكمل: “كانت الهواتف جاهزة، بالطبع كان يجب أن أمشي مباشرة وأتجاهل ذلك، هذا ما يفترض أن نفعله بشكل صحيح؟ أريد توضيح شيئين، الأول هو ما قلته بالفعل للرجل الذي ألقى الإساءة إلي وهو (تعال إلى هنا وقل ما قلته وجهًا لوجه)، حقيقة يمكن للأمن أن يدعمها، وثانيًا حقيقة أنني أشرت بسبابتي له وقلت له (تعال وقول ذلك في وجهي)”.

وأكد: “لم أشر بإصبعي الأوسط، لا يحق لي فعل ذلك، هذا ليس غرور، أنا منزعج، أشعر بخيبة أمل، وفي هذه اللحظة كان الأمر سخيفًا ولكنني كنت إنسانًا”.

O Grêmio pode recorrer a um veterano para sua lista de contratações da temporada. De acordo com o “UOL Esporte”, o lateral-direito Léo Moura é um pedido de Renato Gaúcho, que conta tanto com sua experiência quanto com o fato de ele atuar também no meio.

Segundo a publicação, a negociação ocorre diretamente com o jogador de 38 anos, mas o Tricolor gaúcho trata como inicial. As laterais também são prioridade do clube para o ano, e Renato teria interesse em contar com a bagagem de Léo Moura especialmente para a disputa da Copa Libertadores.

Antonio Conte has emerged as the most likely candidate to take the vacant Tottenham Hotspur job…

What’s the word?

That’s according to football.london’s Alasdair Gold, who delivered a fresh update on the situation to Twitter on Wednesday evening, where he claimed:

“Now looking likely that Antonio Conte will become the next Tottenham boss. Spurs pushed hard to try to bring Mauricio Pochettino back but PSG have fought hard to keep him.”

There are a few issues to iron out first, however.

It is thought that the 51-year-old, who left Inter Milan after winning their first Serie A title last week, wants reassurances that Harry Kane will not be sold this summer – a player he has waxed lyrical about in the past.

“For me, Kane, now, is one of the best strikers in the world. If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker,” he told the Guardian.

Whilst Spurs are expected to appoint a new sporting director in Fabio Paratici, who Conte worked with at Juventus for many seasons, as per The Times.

A strict approach

Many in North London will know Conte well. He enjoyed a very successful spell at Chelsea, cleaning up Jose Mourinho’s mess by delivering a Premier League title in his first season before clinching the FA Cup a year later.

The Italian will give Spurs a culture shock, that’s for sure. And that’s not just because he’s a nine-time trophy winner.

According to The Athletic, Mourinho sucked the life out of the club, with players said to be left feeling bored and untested by his training regime and his defensive tactics left them feeling incapable of attacking.

Furthermore, Gold believes that the squad’s fitness levels were a major source of concern under the Portuguese too and was one reason why they made so many mistakes on the pitch. They were widely regarded as one of the fittest in the English top-flight when Mauricio Pochettino was at the helm.

This is something that Conte would fix, instantly.

He’s a tough character who will offer Spurs a strict approach on the training ground.

The Telegraph claim that the 51-year-old was ‘very strict’ on nutrition, limiting the options available to the players in the club’s training ground canteen, whilst he also made sure that the squad were together on the evening before every match.

This is something that was once emphasised by legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who in the past has also lauded Conte as a “genius.”

“He needed only one speech, with many simple words, to conquer both me and Juventus,” the former Juventus star once claimed (via the Guardian).

“He had fire running through his veins and he moved like a viper. ‘This squad, dear boys, is coming off two consecutive seventh-place finishes. It’s crazy. It’s shocking. I am not here for this, so it’s time to stop being so c**p.’

“When Conte speaks, his words assault you,” Pirlo added. “They crash through the doors of your mind. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve said: ‘Hell, Conte said something really spot-on again today.'”

If the current Spurs squad felt bored and appeared laborious under Mourinho, then they will be rocked by the likely appointment of Conte.

Overall, the Premier League winner could be exactly what the Lilywhites need. It’s certainly a mouthwatering prospect already.
