He’s a huge Roberts upgrade

With no goals or assists in 12 games in all competitions this season, it’s safe to say Roberts’ start to the current campaign has been nothing short of disastrous.

In fact, with a measly record of just eight goals in 94 games, the 22-year-old hasn’t shown anything like the kind of form that would suggest he’s going to develop into a real attacking force for the Whites.

Swift on the other hand has a track record of being someone who can offer a goal-scoring threat from attacking midfield unlike the Welshman, managing an impressive 62 goal contributions in 178 games – in fact, his start to the current campaign for Reading has actually been quite incredible, netting eight goals in 14 matches in the Championship as well as chipping in with six assists too.

Speaking back in August after a 2-1 win over Preston, Royals manager, Veljko Paunovic, said: “Now he’s back, it is important we keep him healthy and motivated as he is now because that will help us a lot.

“He is super talented and he showed an urgency that he wanted to decide the game. The first couple of passes to Azeez and Joao were fantastic vision and execution of the final pass – something we’ve missed in the past. We missed those slick combinations through the middle when we progress forward so that’s something we have to keep up.”

That ability to come from deep and find the back of the net – he’s scored 40 senior goals in his professional career thus far – would add a different dimension to Leeds’ side.

The £3.6m-rated star is exactly what Bielsa needs at Elland Road to take goal-scoring burden off Bamford and add far more of a threat than Roberts.

Rueda disse estar lisonjeado com o grande carinho da torcida do Flamengo nas redes sociais. O apelo dos rubro-negros foi importante para a chegada do treinador colombiano.

-Antes de iniciar a coletiva, eu pensei no recebimento da torcida do Flamengo e no querer de que estivéssemos aqui. Fico muito satisfeito e orgulhoso, é algo histórico. Há 36 anos que o Flamengo não tinha um treinador estrangeiro e tudo isso foi determinante para nossa chegada. Com conhecimento dos clubes mundias, vamos tentar conseguir passar a metodologia aqui rapidamente. Vamos trabalhar que os jogadores se estimulem e melhorem o desempenho no dia a dia – comentou.

EXPECTATIVA É QUE TÉCNICO ESTEJA À BEIRA DO CAMPO NA QUARTA

O Flamengo trabalha para ter Reinaldo Rueda à beira do campo já na próxima quarta-feira, contra o Botafogo, pela Copa do Brasil, no Estádio Nilton Santos. O clube deu entrada na papelada para conseguir o visto de trabalho do treinador e de seus compatriotas, o auxiliar técnico, Bernardo Redín e o preparador físico, Carlos Velasco.

-Estamos trabalhando para que eles tenham o visto de trabalho o mais breve possível, acreditamos que até quarta-feira tenhamos isso sim. Hoje foi um dia muito rápido, de conhecer as pessoas, andamentos e procedimentos. Temos a expectativa de que ele possa estar à frente da equipe na quarta-feira. A parte da documentação foi encaminhada, amanhã vamos trabalhar esta questão burocrática – disse o diretor executivo de futebol do Fla, Rodrigo Caetano.

Com a chegada de Velasco, Daniel Gonçalves, que era preparador físico, voltou a ser o coordenador científico do clube.

RUEDA TINHA OUTRAS PROPOSTAS

Reinaldo Rueda contou que teve propostas de outros clubes, mas preferiu aceitar a do Flamengo porque é algo que ‘não acontece todo dia’.

– É a dificuldade que se tem agora, assumir um projeto que já está iniciado. Eu tinha ofertas de vários países, até na Colômbia, e não queria aceitar, porque a experiência mostra que é muito difícil. Mas penso que uma oportunidade como essa, do Flamengo, não é todo dia. Vamos assumir sabendo que temos metas imediatas e metas a médio prazo e vamos apostar no êxito – disse o treinador, referindo-se ao duelo contra o Botafogo, pela semifinal da Copa do Brasil, já na quarta-feira, no Nilton Santos.

MEDO DE DEMISSÃO?

Durante a entrevista coletiva de apresentação, Reinaldo Rueda foi perguntado se não estava preocupado com a grande número de demissões de técnicos no futebol brasileiro. Ele evitou polemizar e mostrou-se consciente ao afirmar que somente bons resultados vão mantê-lo no cargo.

– No futebol não há paciência, ainda mais na América do Sul. Somos muito emotivos, é da nossa raça. O importante é ter um projeto esportivo sério, querer algo a médio prazo. Temos que ser conscientes que somente os resultados podem garantir sua continuidade. Sei que temos o respaldo da torcida, mas temos que ratificar com resultados – comentou.

PENSANDO NA ESCALAÇÃO

Sem poder contar com os jogadores que não foram inscritos dentro do prazo na Copa do Brasil – Everton Ribeiro, Geuvânio, Diego Alves e Rhodolfo, Rueda já está pensando na escalação para o jogo contra o Botafogo, na quarta-feira.

– Vim no avião da Colômbia fazendo esquemas de escalação. Sei que tem quatro que não podem jogar e isso é tarefa para esta noite e amanhã. Quarta-feira vamos jogar com alegria e caráter – comentou.

تعقد إدارة اتحاد جدة برئاسة أنمار الحائلي جلسات بصفة مستمرة مع المدرب البرتغالي الجديد نونو سانتو للحديث عن تعزيز صفوف الفريق واللاعبين المنتظر رحيلهم في فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الجارية والتي تنتهي في 31 من شهر أغسطس الجاري.

الاتحاد تمكن في الصيف الجاري من ضم المصري طارق حامد في صفقة انتقال مجانية بجانب التعاقد مع زكريا هوساوي وهيلدر كوستا وأحمد شراحيلي.

وبحسب تقارير صحافية فإن نونو سانتو أبلغ إدارة اتحاد جدة برغبته في التخلص من لاعب الوسط البرازيلي برونو هنريكي.

نونو سانتو تابع مردود هنريكي من الجانب الفني في معسكر الفريق التحضيري للموسم الجديد وأكد أن اللاعب لم يحظ باعجابه مشيرا إلى رغبته في التعاقد مع محترف آخر.

الجدير بالذكر أن نونو سانتو تولى تدريب الاتحاد في الصيف الجاري لمدة موسمين حتى يونيو 2024.

وكان الاتحاد فاز وديًا أمام لوزيرن السويسري بهدف دون رد كما فاز بنتيجة 4-3 أمام ريد بول سالزبورج النمساوي ثم تعادل أمام الوحدة الإماراتي بهدف لمثله.

يذكر أن الاتحاد سوف يبدأ مشواره للموسم الجديد من دوري كأس الأمير محمد بن سلمان بمواجهة العدالة على ملعب مدينة الأمير عبدالله بن جلوي الرياضية يوم 26 أغسطس.

The South African board has decided to resume bilateral ties with Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) in light of the change in the nature of the government in Zimbabwe. The decision was taken at a Cricket South Africa (CSA) board meeting on Friday that was also attended by ZC president Peter Chingoka, CEO Ozias Bvute and ZC board member Wilson Manase.The move overturned a decision taken by CSA last year to suspend the bilateral agreement with ZC because of the general deteriorating social environment in that country.Since then, Zimbabwe has had a government of national unity and the ICC has sent a task team to the country to assess the situation. The draft report has been presented to the ICC’s executive board and it has asked the members to assist the development of cricket in Zimbabwe.CSA president Mtutuzeli Nyoka sent a memorandum to all affiliates and associates as well as the CEOs of the franchises and there has also been a request from the ZC to restore the previous relationship.The board decided that a co-ordinating committee be set up to do a joint needs analysis with Zimbabwe that can be implemented over the next three to five years to enable ZC to achieve its goal of returning to Test cricket. The analysis will cover all areas of Zimbabwe cricket from primary school upwards.The co-ordinating committee will comprise Gerald Majola (CSA CEO, chairman), Colin Beggs (chairman of CSA audit committee), Ray Mali (vice-president, CSA, representing the board of CSA), Tony Irish (CEO, SA Cricketers’ Association) and Jacques Faul (representing the franchise CEOs).

Following on from their latest Premier League fixture that saw Liverpool blow a 2-0 lead at home against Brighton & Hove Albion that ended with a 2-2 result, Jurgen Klopp’s side are back in Champions League action on Wednesday with another group clash against Atletico Madrid.

One player that did not feature in the draw against Brighton that we feel should be in the starting XI to face Diego Simeone’s side in midweek is defender Joel Matip, who is currently earning a weekly wage of £100k-per-week according to Spotrac.

In the draw against Brighton, Klopp went with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as his two centre-backs, with neither being particularly impressive on the day, ultimately conceding twice and failing to hold on to a 2-0 lead they had after 24 minutes.

Specifically, with Konate earning himself one of the lowest overall match ratings of any Liverpool player on the day according to SofaScore, we feel that Matip should replace the Frenchman in midweek to see if he can help the side secure another win in the Champions League.

So far this season, Matip has played in seven of Liverpool’s ten Premier League games and has earned himself an overall season rating of 7.22/20 for his performances according to WhoScored, making him their sixth-highest rated player and highest-rated centre-back.

In Liverpool’s previous game against the La Liga club last month, Matip started alongside Van Dijk and was seriously impressive. He managed to make two clearances, interceptions and tackles each, won seven out of the eight duels he was involved in and racked up a passing accuracy percentage of 95%. That meant he earned himself a solid overall match rating of 7/10 according to SofaScore.

This highlights that Matip has shown he has what it takes to go up against Atletico’s attacking stars and frustrate them and prove himself as a solid defensive option, which is what we feel Liverpool need for this game given how they’ve conceded five goals in their previous three Champions League outings.

Moving forward, we think Matip, who has been dubbed as “incredible” by Klopp in the past, should be included in the starting XI in midweek to see if he can help replicate the same sort of defensive performance he put in against the Spanish side last time.
