Wolves secured their 12th Premier League win of the season yesterday with a 2-1 win over Leicester City at Molineux to keep them in the frame to secure European football by the end of the campaign.

Midfielder Ruben Neves opened the scoring for the home side early in the first half with a sumptuous strike from outside of the box before Leicester managed to equalise through Ademola Lookman just a few minutes before halftime.

Another goal from outside of the box, this time from Daniel Podence, then gave Bruno Lage’s side the lead again which was ultimately enough to land all three points for the Old Gold.

Despite the victory, not everyone in a Wolves shirt on the day managed to impress and fully contribute to the win at a high level.

One player, in particular, that didn’t blow anyone away with his performance on this occasion is full-back Nelson Semedo, who is currently picking up a weekly wage of £84k-per-week according to Salary Sport.

Having played the entire 90 minutes, the defender had 56 touches of the ball in total but could only complete 17 of the 29 passes he attempted and ultimately lost possession of the ball for his team on 18 occasions.

Things weren’t much better for the Portuguese international off the ball either, with the 28-year-old losing nine of the 15 duels he was involved in and getting dribbled past by an opposition player three times.

As well as this, Semedo tried his best to make himself a real problem for the Old Gold as well by racking up four fouls throughout the game, more than any other Wolves player.

This display ultimately earned the former Barcelona defender, who has been labelled as a “liability” defensively in the past by Tim Spiers, an underwhelming overall match rating of 6.4/10, making him the joint-lowest rated Wolves player on the day alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri according to SofaScore.

With that in mind, if Wolves had walked away from the game with anything other than a win, fingers could well have been pointed to the full-back as their main weak link and a potential figure to blame based on his performance.

Moving forward, with three points in the bag, Semedo will have to make sure he fixes up his performances for the coming weeks until the end of the season by making better decisions on the ball, winning it back more efficiently and toning down on the fouls.

O Dorival vem enfrentando dificuldades de início de temporada, buscando uma identidade, ainda sentindo falta de entrosamento. Vamos tentar explorar isso – disse o treinador.

O Botafogo venceu nas duas últimas rodadas, somando seis pontos, dois a mais do que o São Paulo. O time ainda conta com o artilheiro do torneio, Bruno Moraes, autor de três gols na competição, exatamente o mesmo número de vezes que a equipe inteira do Tricolor paulistano balançou as redes no Estadual. O atacante é o pilar da tática do clube ribeirão-pretano.

– O Bruno é uma referência. Faz bem o pivô, segura bem a bola, e temos a aproximação dos meias e laterais. E reforço: não vamos ao Morumbi só para marcar.

Léo Condé avisa que a tão citada superioridade física de times do interior, que costumam iniciar a pré-temporada antes dos grandes, não se aplica ao Botafogo, que teve jogadores se apresentando às vésperas do Natal ou em janeiro, e o elenco vem sofrendo com lesões. Por isso, o foco inicial é atingir 12 ou 13 pontos para evitar o rebaixamento antes de pensar em ir além no torneio. Nesse planejamento, surpreender no Morumbi ajudaria muito.

– Temos procurado atuar em cima de uma ideia de jogo equilibrado, independentemente do adversário e de ser dentro ou fora de casa. Tentamos fazer os jogadores entenderem o momento do jogo, se é hora de marcar mais atrás ou agredir o adversário, e eles têm entendido bem. Calvert-Lewin is perhaps the one that they would be most familiar with, and if Everton get relegated from the Premier League, then he could become available on the cheap.

Nunez meanwhile is having a standout season at Benfica, as his recent goal in the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool was his 28th in total over all competitions so far.

Schick is perhaps more well-known on the international stage, where he averages roughly a goal every two games for Czech Republic, as his five strikes in Euro 2020 helped them get to the quarter-final stage of the competition (Transfermarkt).

Nonetheless, even bringing in one of these elite finishers will elevate the quality in Eddie Howe’s squad for the next campaign.

Nesta quarta-feira, contra o São Caetano, na Vila Belmiro, ás 19h30, ele chega a 120 jogos pelo clube com bastante história para contar.

– No ano passado acabei sendo emprestado, foi uma experiência importante para a carreira. Um ano depois vivo um momento diferente e estou muito feliz no Santos. Aproveitei as oportunidades e espero continuar assim, podendo aproveitar e jogando bom futebol. por algumas situações desde que entrei no Santos. Cada situação difícil e cada momento bom acaba calejando a gente, dá bagagem, vivência. Eu sou jovem, mas vivi bastante coisa aqui dentro. As coisas que aprendi tenho que passar para a rapaziada que está subindo e tem um talento enorme – comenta.

The use of the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) in India is still in the balance given the opposition of several Indian players, including India captain MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, and the indifference of the BCCI. But the inventor of Hawk-Eye, the ball tracking technology that is most often used for the UDRS, has said the players’ doubts simply reflect a lack of understanding and is confident of altering the mindset if given a chance to explain the technology to them.India were part of the first trial of the referral system during their tour of Sri Lanka in 2008. They struggled with their referrals, getting most of them wrong. The team has been reluctant to use the technology since. However, the technology used in that series was Virtual Eye, a different technology from Hawk-Eye.”The issue of whether to use it or not has nothing to do with cost issues,” Paul Hawkins, managing director of Hawk-Eye Innovations, said. “I think it is mainly whether the Indian team has confidence in the technology. If the Indian players take some time to understand the system fully, that it wasn’t Hawk-Eye [in Sri Lanka]; if it was explained to them properly, those concerns would go away.”Hawkins said he would like to sit down with the players and show them how Hawk-Eye works. He has met with India coach Gary Kirsten in the past and says a lot of Kirsten’s questions were answered.”We are trying to get to speak to some of the players,” Hawkins said. “I think Dhoni has expressed an interest in coming and learning a little bit more. You need to sit down for half-an-hour and explain things properly. Hopefully he [Dhoni] will find the time when it suits him.”Prior to the 2010 India – Sri Lanka Test series, Sri Lanka wanted to use the UDRS but India objected. “It’s still not a 100% correct system,” MS Dhoni said at the time. “Let’s wait and see until the ICC comes up with a foolproof plan.”The ICC’s minimum requirements for the referral system include ball tracking technology, super slow-motion cameras and a clean audio feed from the stump microphone. Hawk-Eye uses triangulation to map the trajectory of the ball as it travels from bowler to batsman. Seven high-speed video cameras record the ball’s path and bounce and relay the data frame by frame to a computer system. This data then allows the system to predict the future movement of the ball. While there is a margin of error involved, Hawkins says it is relatively small (2.6 mm) and the margin is built into the modus operandi of a referral.”Our system’s margin of error is so small, given the protocol that is used, it is kind of irrelevant. You have the zone of uncertainty built in, which is effectively a model of the umpire’s zone of uncertainty.”It is this incorporation of traditional umpiring philosophy into the UDRS that allows the system to be used without completely changing the traditions of the game. For example, when a batsman is hit more than 2.5 metres down the wicket, the umpire is not required to abide by Hawk-Eye’s prediction.”That would massively change the game,” Hawkins said. “Not because of the accuracy of the system, but because it has never been given out in the last 100 years.”Hawkins says the most difficult prediction for Hawk-Eye to make is where the ball travels less than 40 cm after pitching, though it is rare for an LBW to occur when the ball has travelled such a short distance (there has been only one such referral so far). In those instances, it is best to let the umpire decide whether a batsman is out or not.”If there is less than 40 cm of travel, in that instance a good umpire should be giving greater benefit to the batsmen,” Hawkins said. “That is the most difficult – less than 40 cm – as a model. It [the protocol] also protects the tracking system when there has been little data.”

Revelado pelo Brasiliense, Jóbson também tivera uma passagem pelo futebol coreano antes de desembarcar por empréstimo em General Severiano no dia 22 de setembro. Logo correspondeu ao desafio de tirar o Botafogo do Z4 no BR-2009: marcou gols em partidas decisivas contra Goiás e São Paulo.E, na última rodada, foi crucial, ao anotar um dos gols na vitória por 2 a 1 sobre o Palmeiras, que manteve a equipe na elite.

IDA FRUSTRADA PARA O CRUZEIRO E INDISCIPLINAS

A grande atuação no Brasileirão o levou a ficar à beira de um acordo com o Cruzeiro. Mas, dias depois, o negócio não se concretizou: veio o primeiro flagra no exame antidoping, por uso de cocaína e admitir dependência de uso de crack.

Após seis meses fora dos gramados, Jóbson assinou contrato de cinco anos com o Botafogo. Chegou a render bem na equipe que era liderada por Loco Abreu em 2010, mas, aos poucos, perdeu espaço. O Glorioso via que seu momento era de buscar novos ares.

A chance veio no Atlético-MG. Porém, o ciclo foi curto: depois de três meses, o atacante deixou o clube, afirmando “não se sentir feliz”. Sua nova tentativa aconteceu no Bahia, e também sem sucesso: atuou em 15 partidas, e foi dispensado por constantes atrasos e indisciplinas.

CHANCE DESPERDIÇADA NO FOGÃO E PASSAGENS SEM SUCESSO

Em 2012, o Botafogo voltou a lhe estender a mão. Oswaldo de Oliveira gostava de seu futebol, e o clube condicionava sua volta ao tratamento contra dependência química. Só que os planos foram por água abaixo em poucos meses, deixando lembranças de um gol marcado e novas polêmicas, como a passagem de um Carnaval em Salvador.

Sem se recuperar, o Alvinegro carioca cedeu o atacante ao Grêmio Barueri. Só que a passagem demorou 41 dias: Jóbson pediu dispensa, afirmando que não gostava de “clube que não tem torcida”.

Chegou a ter negociação frustrada com o Avaí em 2012 (não poderia jogar por três clubes no ano), e só partiu para novo destino em 2013: o São Caetano. No entanto, as polêmicas continuaram acompanhando o atacante: foi acusado de agredir sua então mulher e detido por desacato por tentar acelerar seu carro e ofender policiais em uma blitz em São Caetano do Sul.

ÚLTIMA PARADA NO BOTAFOGO… E SUSPENSÃO!

Ainda em 2013, partiu para o sonho árabe ao assinar com o Al Ittihad. No entanto, além de lidar com problemas salariais, o atacante não podia sair do país em função de seu passaporte estar retido no clube. Para completar, em 24 de março de 2014, Jóbson se recusou a fazer um antidoping com a camisa do clube.

Como a punição só era válida para solo saudita, o atacante desembarcou no Botafogo, mas desanimou a torcida ao desperdiçar um pênalti no revés para o Figueirense. Em 2015, seu futebol voltou a entrar nos eixos, na boa equipe que chegou à final do Campeonato Carioca. Porém, a Fifa decidiu que a suspensão do Comitê Antidoping da Arábia valia para todo o mundo, às vésperas do jogo de ida da decisão estadual, contra o Vasco.

PERÍODO INATIVO: PRISÕES E POLÊMICA ATÉ NO FUTEBOL AMADOR

Suspenso do futebol profissional por doping até março deste ano, Jóbson seguiu com sua luta para jogar bola acidentada por polêmicas. O atacante começou sua luta para manter a forma na várzea de Conceição do Araguaia (a 979km de Belém, capital do Pará). Mas, no campeonato amador da cidade, causou confusão em 2016, por se inscrever em dois times diferentes.

Meses depois, Jóbson ganharia as páginas policiais, ao ficar preso por sob acusação de estuprar quatro menores em uma chácara no interior no Pará. Segundo a acusação, ele entorpecia e embiragava as meninas.

O atacante foi solto mediante pagamento de fiança. Porém, em 2017, voltou a ter visibilidade pelas confusões. Primeiro, seu carro capotou em um grave acidente em Tocantins, e, além do jogador se ferir, seu cunhado não resistiu. Dentro do veículo, foram encontradas latas de cerveja e uma garrafa de uísque.

Já em um campeonato amador de Conceição do Araguaia, Jóbson aprontou. Irritado com uma dividida, o atacante agrediu um adversário e, irritado por ser expulso, deu um tapa no árbitro.

Para completar, o atacante voltou à cadeia em Colmeia (a 206km de Palmas) por duas vezes por violar as regras da prisão condicional. Segundo monitoramento eletrônico, Jóbson deixou a área estabelecida à noite pelo menos oito vezes no mês de setembro sem autorização dos policiais.

Mesmo afirmando que retornará aos gramados neste ano, quando chega ao fim sua punição imposta pela Fifa, segue a pergunta diante de tantas oportunidades frustradas: que Jóbson estará em campo?

Kanpur may not be ready and Kolkata unwilling, but Hyderabad has thrown its hat into the ring as a possible venue for the second Test between India and New Zealand from November 12 to 16. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, on the eastern outskirts of Hyderabad, has staged three ODIs since 2005 and was conferred Test status by the BCCI and the ICC in June this year.Kanpur was scheduled to host the second Test between India and New Zealand but threw up its hands saying that its 10,000-seater ‘students’ stand’ was incomplete. Kolkata then cited renovation of the Eden Gardens for next year’s World Cup as the reason for its inability to hold the Test. Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president, Arshad Ayub, told ESPNcricinfo, “Hyderabad would certainly and absolutely be ready to stage the India-New Zealand Test. We haven’t been contacted, but I believe the BCCI may be considering it”.Ayub said Hyderabad was “already in the line” to host a Test as it wrote to the BCCI asking to be allotted one, depending on, “the rotation of the Test match grounds or whose turn it was.” The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium will stage an India v New Zealand ODI on December 4, but the prospect of hosting two international matches within the space of three weeks was, Ayub said, “not a problem at all”. The HCA has not been formally spoken to by the BCCI about the Test against New Zealand, “but we are ready and able”.The two confirmed venues for the India-New Zealand Test series are Ahmedabad (November 4 to 8) and Nagpur (November 20 to 24). The series has been dogged by scheduling issues starting in July when the Mumbai Cricket Association backed out of staging the third Test, due to the renovation of the Wankhede Stadium for the World Cup in July, followed by Kanpur’s constructions problems earlier this week.
