That had seemed unlikely when New South Wales lost five wickets in the space of 15 overs for just 42 runs, after their openers Ryan Carters and Scott Henry had given the team a solid platform to build on.Carters and Henry added 56 in 28 overs, but once Carters was caught behind by Tim Paine off Clive Rose, they threatened to let the advantage slip. Rose also dismissed the No.3 Kurtis Patterson, before Jackson Bird and Andrew Fekete snared two wickets apiece to wreck New South Wales’ middle order. At 6 for 110, the team looked like they would concede an innings lead, but Nevill and O’Keefe, who had earlier starred with the ball by taking three wickets, batted for nearly 37 overs, as they deflated the Tasmania bowlers.Nevill was eventually removed by Rose for a 113-ball 39, but O’Keefe went on to notch a much-needed half-century, his 53 featuring six fours.

Eduardo Barroca iniciará as sessões de treinamento com todos os jogadores visando a partida contra o Fortaleza a partir desta sexta-feira. Com 27 pontos conquistados e ocupando a 11ª posição na classificação do Campeonato Brasileiro, o Glorioso não vence na competição há três rodadas.

New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Mills has announced his retirement from all cricket, following his team-mate Daniel Vettori in departing the game after the World Cup. Mills, 36, was part of the squad in what was his third World Cup campaign, although he did not play a match.He will leave the game second only to Vettori on New Zealand’s all-time one-day international wicket list, with 240 victims at 27.02 from his 170 appearances. He also played 19 Tests and collected 44 wickets at 33.02 and claimed 43 wickets from his 42 Twenty20 internationals.”It’s been an honour and privilege to play cricket for my country over the past 14 years and I will miss it greatly,” Mills said. “However the time is right for me to step away from playing this great game and devote more time to my family who have sacrificed so much for me to keep playing the game I love.”It’s important for me to acknowledge and thank the many coaches and mentors who have helped me along the way – they’ve all helped me become a better player in some capacity, whether that was when I was playing cricket for Howick-Pakuranga as a youngster or playing for Auckland and New Zealand.”There have been many good times and some tough times on the field over the years, but my best memories will be of the team camaraderie and having the time of my life playing cricket for my country with my mates. I’m now looking forward to watching this exciting young New Zealand team over the next few years and enjoying their ongoing success and achievements.”Mills began his first-class career for Auckland in 1998-99 and won his first New Zealand cap in the ODI format against Pakistan in Sharjah in 2001. The New Zealand coach, Mike Hesson, said Mills had been a fine bowler in the 50-over format especially for many years.”It’s sometimes forgotten that over the course of his career Kyle has consistently been ranked in the top 10 ODI bowlers in the world and for a long time held the top spot,” Hesson said. “To have the longevity that Kyle’s had takes an incredible work ethic and desire to represent your country.”On top of what he’s achieved on the field, he’s also a fantastic bloke and a great team man. He’s a natural leader who did a superb job of captaining the side in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka last year and has brought a lot of passion to the group.”David White, the New Zealand Cricket CEO, said it should not be forgotten that Mills also provided valuable contributions to the Test team from 2004 to 2009.”Kyle has been a wonderful ODI player over a long period of time and, but for injury, would have played closer to 200 games for New Zealand,” White said. “However, what I’ll always remember Kyle for most was when he knocked over the England Test team’s top-order during his match-winning spell at Hamilton in 2008 – dismissing in quick succession Alastair Cook, Michael Vaughan, Andrew Strauss and Kevin Pietersen.”

An unbroken 130-run partnership between fourth-wicket pair Peter Handscomb and Hamish Marshall after tea on day three ensured Gloucestershire took charge against Lancashire at Old Trafford.The visitors gained a of 24 on first innings on the stroke of lunch during today’s third day, which could have been far greater but for Paul Horton who compled a 298-ball innings of 168 – his fifth score above 150 in 12 years of Championship cricket.Gloucestershire built on their slender lead second time around to close with a healthy lead of 230 and a chance to push for what would only be a ninth victory in Lancashire in their history.When fledgling Australian Handscomb and veteran New Zealander Marshall came together in the early stages of the evening, Gloucestershire were 76 for 3 in the 27th over with a lead of 100 and the contest in the balance.Peter Siddle struck twice with the new ball inside the first eleven overs as Gloucestershire’s slipped to 30 for 2, with first-innings centurion Chris Dent one of his scalps. Dent lost his off-stump as he offered no shot before Gareth Roderick, late on one that nipped back appreciably, was trapped lbw. Nathan Buck later picked up his first Red Rose wicket as Will Tavare played on for 34, and Lancashire had their tails up.But Handscomb and Marshall regained the momentum during their 36.5 overs together in what remain decent batting conditions. Both players brought up their fifties inside the last hour of play, with Handscomb’s coming off 99 balls and Marshall’s second of the match coming off 83. They will begin day four on 74 and 71 not out respectively.Not only do Lancashire have to work out a way of bowling Gloucestershire out, they also have to keep an eye on their over-rate as they ended the day at minus two.Earlier, Liam Norwell took two of the four Lancashire wickets to fall for 17 runs to finish with 4 for 95. Horton fell five short of his best score in county cricket – 173 against Somerset at Taunton in 2009 – having shared an 82-run partnership inside 28 overs for the seventh wicket with Siddle. Their stand started during the latter stages of day two, and they took Lancashire to within 41 of Gloucestershire’s total before Siddle was trapped lbw by Norwell for 40, leaving the score at 347 for 7 in the 104th over of the innings.Horton was caught behind in Norwell’s next over with 350 on the board before Craig Miles had Buck caught at second slip and Tom Smith’s left-arm spin accounted for Kyle Jarvis, caught by Norwell running from cover towards point.Gloucestershire batsman Hamish Marshall said: “It’s nice to have finished the day well. Three down for a 230 lead is a position we’d have liked to have been in at the start of the day. We’ve got that. We’ve now got to work out how we can get ourselves in a position to put pressure on Lancashire and win the game.”Siddle and Jarvis are quality bowlers, and they asked a lot of questions in the first innings. In this innings, they got some early poles. It was nice to get a partnership going and put them under pressure. If we can give ourselves some overs with runs on the board, we’ll have a crack at trying to win the game.”Lancashire bowler Peter Siddle added: “I think we batted pretty well this morning to get us into the position we got to, but it was a bit disappointing not to eek a few more runs out and get in front. The way we started with the ball that second dig with a few early wickets, credit goes to their last partnership. They batted well and batted time. They were patient. It’s made for an interesting day tomorrow.”The pitch has played pretty well for the last couple of days really. Day one was a bit up and down, and we thought it was going to deteriorate a lot more. It’s played pretty well. We need a couple of quick wickets. If we don’t get them, it does make it hard for us to get in front of the game.”
