The Championship new boys have completed the signing of Wales international Broadhead, 27, who was in the last year of his contract at Ipswich. The BBC reports that while the initial fee is likely to be lower than £10m, it is believed that figure could be reached in the future.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Broadhead becomes Wrexham's ninth new arrival in what has been a busy summer window for Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who are co-chairmen of the club. One of those signings was Lewis O'Brien, who was previously the club's record transfer following his £3m move from Nottingham Forest in July.
DID YOU KNOW?
The signing of Broadhead, who scored two goals in 18 Premier League appearances in 2024-25, will provide a major boost to the club's hopes of enjoying another successful campaign following last season's promotion from League One. While Ipswich, Southampton and Birmingham City have been widely tipped to compete for promotion to the Premier League in 2025-26, the arrival of Broadhead could see Wrexham's odds shorten with many bookmakers.

Juventus are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with FC Porto to sign Francisco Conceicao on a permanent basis, which has cast doubt over Manchester United star Jadon Sancho's switch to the Allianz Stadium. The 21-year-old impressed Juventus’ hierarchy during his loan spell and his familiarity with the squad have prompted the Serie A giants to prioritise his acquisition instead of Sancho's.

According to the Italians are in advanced talks with Porto to sign Conceicao, and all parties are moving positively towards finalising the deal. Moreover, claimed that although Everton are ready to activate Conceicao's €30 million (£26m/$35m) the player is not keen on a move to Merseyside and "only wants Juventus."

However, conflicting reports have emerged from Italy suggesting that Juventus may not be forced to choose between the two. According to while Conceicao is closer to a deal, the club is still monitoring Sancho’s situation at United and could move for both players, depending on outgoing transfers and financial flexibility. Nico Gonzalez is expected to receive a substantial offer from the Saudi Pro League, which would free up both space in the squad and funds on the wage bill. And with his departure on the cards, Juventus would have more flexibility to accommodate another high-profile arrival, with Sancho fitting the bill. To further bolster their spending power, Juventus are also engaged in discussions with Sporting CP over the possible sale of midfielder Alberto Costa. The transfer could bring in additional funds to fuel Juventus’ recruitment drive, particularly in their pursuit of Sancho.
DID YOU KNOW?
Sancho’s situation at Old Trafford has reached a tense standstill. The winger, who joined Manchester United in 2021 for £74m ($99m) from Borussia Dortmund, has one year left on his contract. He is reportedly demanding a severance package worth at least €5m (£4m/$6m) to terminate the deal early and enable a move elsewhere. However, Sancho is said to be open to a significant salary reduction in order to facilitate the transfer. Reports suggest he is ready to lower his annual income to around £7m ($9m), approximately £180,000-per-week, a drop of over £120,0000-per-week. Juventus, for their part, have tabled an offer of £5m plus performance-based bonuses, totalling just over £130,000 per week. While the gap is closing, it remains to be seen whether both parties can reach an agreement that satisfies all financial considerations.

In terms of transfer fee, Juventus have reportedly proposed an initial payment of €25m (£21m/$29m) with further bonuses, which falls short of United’s valuation. The Premier League side is nearing the financial ceiling of their summer transfer budget, having spent heavily on the acquisition of Matheus Cunha and with Bryan Mbeumo expected to follow. Offloading Sancho could provide much-needed relief to pursue further additions.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Former U.S. international Alexi Lalas has questioned Christian Pulisic's commitment to the U.S. men's national team amid his absence from the 2025 Gold Cup roster.
Pulisic made the decision ahead of the international window that he would not participate with the USMNT, taking the Gold Cup off due to fatigue. Lalas said this week that the the public pressure on Pulisic after opting to skip the Gold Cup could increase for the 2026 World Cup.
"So, yeah, I mean, look, Christian Pulisic is going to be fine," Lalas said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FOX. "He's a big boy, alright? He's going to take his licks right now, publicly, which is fine. He may hit back. I don't know. And I think he's going to be there next summer. And maybe in a strange way, this puts the burden, if you will, or the onus on Christian Pulisic to bring it, because he's rested, and we are going to expect more.
"Fine, Christian, you got to take the summer of 2025 off. That means that when you come in the summer of 2026, you live up to the hype."
USMNT legends such as Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey are among others who publicly criticized Pulisic's decision. On Thursday, the 26-year-old winger said those questioning his commitment were "way out of line." He also claimed he offered to play in two pre-Gold Cup friendlies against Turkey and Swizterland, but the USMNT coaching staff declined.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Lalas said that Pulisic needs to embrace the challenge and perform at a higher level when he does rejoin the USMNT.
"The bigger problem for Christian Pulisic not to be here this summer, is that that you got to read the room, dude," Lalas said. "I would think if this really means something to you, that you would move heaven and earth to be there to try to set this right. Now, does it mean that it's all going to go great? No, but at least you are there in the trenches in the most important moment before this World Cup helping this team."

The USMNT last won the Gold Cup in 2021, and in 2019, Pulisic was a part of the roster that lost to Mexico 1-0 in the final of the competition. That was the last time he played in the Gold Cup.

Liverpool have a striking problem. It’s funny, in a way, that there is so much negative noise around Arne Slot’s frontline, top scorers in the Premier League and firm favourites to lift the title by May.
But the hard truth is such concerns carry substance. Liverpool have tapered off in recent weeks, no longer playing the slick and dizzying football in the early months of the campaign, when teams of all shapes and sizes were put to the sword.
In the end, Liverpool were well beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final. And that’s okay. It’s football.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot
But Slot and FSG know where they can improve next season. Anfield’s commanding lead at the top of the table is great enough to be called unassailable, but the frontline will still need to be chopped and changed during the off-season, for sure.
What's going on at number nine for Liverpool
Below, you’re going to see a rather concerning table. It tells the tale of Liverpool’s attacking success since the turn of the calendar year, with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo the only two who can hold their heads high as far as goal threat is concerned.

Luis Diaz has only scored one goal across his past 18 matches, Diogo Jota just two – one of which came against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.
Then there’s Darwin Nunez, who remains an unsolvable conundrum. He’s actually registered more goal involvements than everyone bar Salah in 2025, but the 25-year-old still flatters to deceive through the bulk of his time at Liverpool.
He came close to signing for Saudi club Al-Nassr in January, and while this didn’t come to fruition, the reliably informed Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the expectation is the Uruguayan will be sold at the end of the season.
Who to bring in his place? Well, Alexander Isak is the name on everyone’s lips, having dazzled for Newcastle this season. The Sweden striker has posted 23 goals and five assists across 32 matches in 2024/25, netting as Eddie Howe’s side beat Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has confirmed Liverpool are in the running, but at a reported £150m asking price (or even more), it’s not going to be an easy deal to engineer, and FSG’s frugal chiefs appear to be swivelling their heads elsewhere.
Newcastle United's AlexanderIsak
So then, without any further ado, let’s take a look at the first-rate centre-forward who may grace Slot’s exciting project this summer.
England star wants to sign for Liverpool
According to Spanish reports, Liverpool have been monitoring Harry Kane’s situation at Bayern Munich, aware that the all-inspiring England captain has an attractive release clause in his contract, active from January 2026.
It’s thought Kane is considering a return to the Premier League and his ‘preferred destination’ is Anfield, which makes sense when considering FSG’s desire to sign a new striker.
Perhaps the most complete number nine in the business, the 31-year-old would be an incredible addition to Slot’s line-up and might just be the best signing sporting director Richard Hughes could make.
How Harry Kane compares to Alexander Isak
Kane may be 31, but exceptions can surely be made for the most incredible of world-class talents. Take Thiago Alcantara, for example, who joined the Reds from Bayern Munich (would you look at that) for £20m aged 29 in 2020, strengthening Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League-winning squad.
Transfer Focus
Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.
The Three Lions skipper has never been reliant on his speed either and could thrive as an elite player on the European scene for years yet to come.
The bulk of Kane’s career came in north London, but he hasn’t exactly been shabby in the two campaigns since leaving Tottenham Hotspur. At Bayern, Kane has scored 76 goals and supplied 25 assists across 82 matches.
As per FBref, he ranks among the top 1% of forwards across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for goals scored, the top 10% for assists, the top 19% for shot-creating actions and the top 7% for progressive carries per 90.
Kane might be one of the deadliest finishers in the business, but he’s certainly no one-trick pony. Creative, dynamic and a tenacious leader, he embodies Slot’s virtues and would be the perfect central talisman as he chases down the record goals haul in the Premier League alongside teammate Salah.

Comparatively, Isak’s prowess stems from his athleticism, pace and multi-layered approach to the striking game, but he’s not as complete as Kane. Ange Postecoglou has even called the veteran a “generational player,” and he’s probably got that one about right.
Further to that point, following Kane’s dominant Champions League performance against Bayer Leverkusen, trouncing their Bundesliga rivals, journalist Matt Law hailed him as “the best striker in the world.”
Isak’s haul of 23 goals this season is impressive stuff, but it’s not on par with Kane’s 32-goal haul, whose creativity also knows no bounds and would make considerable success regarding Anfield’s overall attacking fluency.
Newcastle United's AlexanderIsakcelebrates scoring their second goal
Just imagine, were Kane in the middle of the line instead of, say, Nunez, Slot wouldn’t just wield a deadly goalscorer but a player who could elevate each of those around him, lessening Salah’s burden to no end.
If there is an inkling of a chance that FSG can get this one over the line, they must pounce on the opportunity and spark a new illustrious era on Merseyside.

Those readers familiar with the oeuvre of Chris Sandford might recall that one of his early hits, “Not too Little, Not too Much” reached No 17 in the charts nearly 60 years ago. The song’s publicity was enhanced by it being included in an episode of the soap in which Sandford played the part of the window-cleaner, Walter Potts. Throughout the history of cricket, however, the title might have stood as an axiom for bowlers of all stripes and persuasions: move the ball too little and most idiots can play it; move it too much and only the Gods nick off.James Anderson has delivered plenty of the latter and occasionally offered a wry smile when he did so. But given that he has bowled more than a thousand balls that strike a perfectly destructive compromise between the two extremes, he can afford to do so. The discouraging thing for Somerset’s batsmen on the first morning of this game – and what made their subsequent achievement all the more memorable – is that Anderson’s thirst for success shows no sign of being slaked.Rather like Derek Underwood, who celebrated every success, Burnley’s finest takes more wickets partly because he very much wants to. And so driven, he picked up two more inside the first 45 minutes at the County Ground as neither Sean Dickson, who was haplessly half-forward, nor Tom Lammonby, who failed to cover the movement off the seam, could deal with him. Nobody who watched those dismissals contemplated the likelihood of the day ending with just two more wickets falling and matters ending in a golden light with applause for two Somerset centurions.Instead, it got worse for the locals in the first session and people merely shrugged when it did. None of the home side’s specialist batsmen began this game with an aggregate of 100 runs from four innings and Somerset had lost one game and been on the wrong end of a draw in the other.Their coach, Jason Kerr, had sought refuge in metonymy: “The dressing room is hurting,” he said, and so one assumes the pain deepened when Cameron Bancroft edged Tom Bailey to George Bell and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, having made 38 runs in an hour, whipped Colin de Grandhomme off his hip and saw the ball sail into the hands of Bailey at long leg. In the context of Somerset’s current needs, Kohler-Cadmore’s innings resembled some of West Ham United’s football in the 1970s: it was attractive but ineffectual.Pleasingly, therefore, for most of the spectators who thronged the James Hildreth Stand and maybe also for the students whose singing enlivened the afternoon session, the home side’s fortunes improved rather dramatically in the remainder of the day. Unexpected, one or two dour locals might have called it but that adjective does little honour to the batting of Tom Abell and James Rew, whose unbroken 231-run stand was studded with fine strokes. For many, the second-best moment of the partnership arrived when Abell thick-edged de Grandhomme past slip to go to the 14th first-class century of his career. There should be no surprise at this reaction. Abell’s loyalties to his county go marrow-deep and that love is reciprocated by many in this ground’s four pavilions. But 19-year-old Rew also looks an exceptional prospect and appears to have more strokes around the wicket than his captain, whose gorgeous on-drive nevertheless signs his best innings. For his part, Lancashire’s skipper, Keaton Jennings, was left to rotate his bowlers to a degree he might not have envisaged. For example, at 3.20, left-arm spinner Tom Hartley was given his first bowl of the day, only to be driven through the covers by Rew before being whacked over midwicket, a stroke that took the lad past fifty for the third time in a first-class career that has spanned less than a year. Before long, the pair also set a new fifth-wicket record for Somerset against Lancashire, albeit that only vanquished the 145 set by Rew and Lewis Goldsworthy at Southport last July. More significantly, of course, the balance of the contest and the shape of their side’s early season changed as well. It is easy during the first month or so of a campaign for a county’s season to suffer the same fate as SpaceX and experience a “rapid, unscheduled disassembly”. Had Abell’s team being bundled out below 200 on this wonderful Thursday afternoon when leaves seemed to appear on the trees almost as quickly as Somerset’s day improved, there was a danger that their early season would have been plagued by self-doubt and lack of confidence.Nor have two sessions changed everything. But when Rew cover-drove de Grandhomme to the Ondaatje Pavilion boundary four overs before the close to reach his second first-class century in 18 innings and his first on this ground, one was reminded of the afternoon nearly eight years ago when Abell had made his maiden century and Marcus Trescothick, who had earlier also made a ton, admitted that he felt like a warm-up act for his young colleague. Trescothick and Abell were interviewed that day. This evening, it is Abell and Rew who are facing some kindly faces and appreciative questions.Trescothick and Abell…Abell and Rew. “Pass it on,” says Hector in Alan Bennett’s play “That’s the lesson I want you to learn.”
With just 11 games to go in the 2024/25 Championship season, Leeds United sit on pole position to claim a return to the Premier League, currently sitting top of the table.
The Whites have a five-point buffer over third-placed Burnley, whilst undoubtedly having the easiest run-in by not having to come up against any of the top six sides between now and the end of May.
Numerous first-team players have contributed massively to their success this campaign, none more so than striker Joel Piroe, with his 15 goals – a division high – securing numerous points in key matches.
Ao Tanaka has also starred in the middle of the park after his summer arrival, exceeding all expectations and cementing his place in the side, as seen by his run of 12 consecutive league starts.
The aforementioned duo have both impressed on the pitch, but the hard work done by one man off the field is where the majority of the credit needs to be directed.
Daniel Farke’s stats in charge of Leeds United
After relegation from the Premier League at the end of 2022/23, it was always vital that the Leeds hierarchy made the right appointment to take the club back to England’s top flight.
Daniel Farke was the man chosen to lead the side, a great choice given his previous success in the second-tier, winning two titles during his tenure in charge at Norwich City.
The German led the Whites to a play-off final last year, whilst helping them sit at the top of the tree this time around – looking to claim a third Championship win of his managerial career.
He’s so far achieved a 60% win rate in the league since his appointment 18 months ago, doing so whilst having to manage a side that had been ransacked after relegation and failure to win promotion last season.
Farke has done a superb job at the helm, offering stability and consistency to the side, allowing for their recent impressive run of 17 league games unbeaten – with one player contributing massively to the success.
The Leeds player whose value has skyrocketed 2025%
Over the years, Leeds have made numerous shrewd additions to help their cause, many of which have made an impact at Elland Road before leaving in big-money transfers.
Former Leeds forward Raphinha.
Raphinha is just one example, joining for £17m back in the Premier League days before departing two years later for Barcelona for a mammoth £55m – allowing him to star in Spain after his successful stint in Yorkshire.
However, in the present day, defender Pascal Struijk is another example of a player who has rapidly developed at the club, becoming a regular starter over the last couple of years.
The Dutchman arrived from Ajax back in 2018, originally linking up with the academy setup before quickly making the jump into the senior setup.
At the time of his arrival, the now 25-year-old was valued at just £620k by Transfermarkt, with his value skyrocketing as a result of his showings for the Whites.
Struijk made five appearances during the promotion-winning campaign, before becoming a regular first-team player under Marcelo Bielsa in what was the club’s first season back in the top flight for nearly two decades.
However, despite relegation, he remained at the club, often taking the armband, backing up Farke’s claims of the defender being “crucial” to his plans at Elland Road.

He’s scored 10 goals over the last two seasons in the Championship, including a double off the bench against Sunderland a couple of weeks ago, turning the game in their favour and securing all three points.
As a result of his tremendous showings in recent years, his market value has soared, with Transfermarkt now valuing the centre-back at £14.2m, a jump of 2025% on the value he boasted upon his arrival.
Struijk has captured the hearts of the fanbase during his time at the club, having a huge impact at both ends of the pitch, as seen by his tallies since his emergence.
There’s no doubt his quality has massively aided their promotion push this time around, with the Dutchman needing to continue his form under Farke to help the Whites achieve their target in the next few months.
£30m star failed big time at Leeds, now he's outscoring Summerville
Leeds United have been the home to numerous stars, including one player who’s now outscoring Crysencio Summerville.
Since relegation back to the Championship ahead of the 2023/24 season, manager Daniel Farke has built a side at Leeds United that has excelled in England’s second tier potentially catapulting them to promotion this season.
The German has led the Whites to top spot in the current campaign, sitting in pole position to end their two-year exile from the Premier League in the coming months.
He already had a phenomenal side upon his arrival at Elland Road, but has gradually injected further quality into the side, massively aiding their chances of securing a return to the top flight.
LeedsUnitedmanagerDaniel Farke celebrates after the match
The likes of Joel Piroe and Ilia Gruev both arrived during the summer of 2023, both cementing their places in the side over recent weeks, playing a vital role in the club’s promotion ambitions.
However, despite the signings made during the aforementioned window, the emergence of one player caught the eye massively, providing for a huge pay day after their play-off final defeat.
Archie Gray’s stats for Leeds in 2023/24
Ahead of the start of last season, very few supporters would’ve predicted how important youngster Archie Gray would be in Farke’s first year at the helm as Leeds boss.
At the tender age of just 17, the talent would make his first-team debut, but would end up cementing his place in the squad, making 52 appearances for his boyhood side – winning the Championship’s Young Player of the Year award as a result.
Archie Gray for Leeds United.
Gray would find the back of the net in what was a crucial clash with Leicester City at Elland Road, but his goal would eventually be credited as a own goal – unable to register a goal during his time Yorkshire.
His first year with the Whites would be his only season after their failure to secure promotion, leaving in a £40m deal to join Tottenham Hotspur, hoping to take his career to the next level as a result.
However, despite featuring 35 times to date, he’s been outperformed by another former Leeds player who failed to deliver during his own spell on loan under Farke.
The former Leeds player who’s outperformed Gray in 2024/25
During the summer of 2023, Leeds also secured a deal to sign Spurs full-back Djed Spence on loan for the entirety of the campaign, but was unable to make his mark at the club.
The Englishman, who cost £20m the summer prior. would fail to deliver at Elland Road, making just seven Championship appearances, many of which were out of position at left-back.
As a result, the 24-year-old would be recalled halfway through his stint in January, returning to his parent side before another temporary spell at Italian outfit Genoa.
However, in the ongoing season, the Lilywhites’ injury issues have plagued Ange Postecoglou’s squad, handing Spence the opportunity to impress in the first-team, taking his chance with both hands.
He’s since been a key player in their backline, along with Gray, but his showings have led to calls for an England call-up amid Thomas Tuchel’s first squad in the coming weeks.
When comparing his stats to those of the Leeds academy graduate, Spence has outperformed the youngster in numerous key areas, highlighting the progression he’s made after his disappointing spell in Yorkshire.

He’s managed to excel defensively, winning more tackles and completing more interceptions per 90 than Gray, showcasing how impressive he’s been – unimaginable after his unsuccessful spell under Farke.
It’s great to see the former loanee shining alongside another one-time Leeds star, with the fanbase undoubtedly wishing them well in their development even if it’s not at Elland Road.
Many expected Gray to be the star youngster after his big-money move, but ultimately, Spence has managed to outperform him to date, with the teenager still needing the opportunity to star in his regular position to get the best out of his skill set.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
There appear to be two reasons for Ancelotti's sudden change of heart. The first is an issue of timing. Brazil had wanted Ancelotti in place for June fixtures, but the Italian had made it clear he could not arrive until August. Finances are also said to be playing a part. Ancelotti has received an "irresistible" offer from Saudi Arabia which may be difficult to turn down. The offer is said to be worth a staggering €50 million (£58m/$67m) net per season.

Ancelotti's decision comes at a time when Real Madrid have already drawn up a succession plan. Former midfielder Xabi Alonso is the favourite to take over and has an agreement in place with Bayer Leverkusen that he can leave for Madrid. Meanwhile, Ancelotti still has a year left on his contract in the Spanish capital, and had asked Madrid for €4m (£3.3m/$4.5m) in compensation, but the club are said to be hoping he will depart and forgo any compensation owed.

Real Madrid's only hope of silverware this season is in La Liga where they sit four points behind rivals Barcelona with five games left to play. Los Blancos take on Celta Vigo next but it remains to be seen how much longer Ancelotti will be in the hotseat at the Santiago Bernabeu.
