قضى مانشستر سيتي يومًا للنسيان بعد خسارته ضد توتنهام هوتسبر بهدفين نظيفين تحت قيادة توماس فرانك على ملعب الاتحاد في الجولة الثانية من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وعاد توتنهام إلى الملعب الذي حقق فيه الفوز برباعية ساحقة الموسم الماضي، على الرغم من تغيير المدرب، ليحافظ على سجله الخالي من الهزائم بعد مباراتين في الدوري الإنجليزي.

وأجرى بيب جوارديولا التغييرات في بداية الشوط الثاني حيث دفع بكل من جيريمي دوكو و رودري وبرناردو سيلفا وفيل فودين، لكن توتنهام صمد ليخرج من المباراة بشباك نظيفة إلى جانب فوزه بهدفين نظيفين.

ولم ينجح فيل فودين في صناعة الفارق بعد دخوله في المباراة، وقد انتشر مقطع فيديو وتم تداوله بسرعة هائلة على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي وهو يضحك.

ونشرت صحيفة “مترو” البريطانية أنه قد التقطت هذه اللقطة بعد وقت قصير من مضاعفة جواو بالينيا النتيجة بالهدف الثاني لتوتنهام في نهاية الشوط الأول، مما أثار غضب العديد من جماهير مانشستر سيتي وحيرة آخرين.

وتكهن بعض مشجعي مانشستر سيتي أن فودين ربما كان يضحك بسبب خطأ ترافورد الفادح الذي أدى لهدف توتنهام الثاني، بينما أشار آخرون إلى أن رد فعله ربما نابعة من إحباطه لعدم مشاركته أساسيًا.

  As the Lionesses wrapped up their final training session ahead of Saturday’s clash, Wiegman expressed her satisfaction with how things have come together in the lead-up to the tournament.

  "The team looks really good, I think we are ready, we had our last session this morning and everyone came through well," she told reporters. "I think we had some good weeks where we trained, we could do some tactics and I think we are very well prepared. We are ready to defend our title. You see the bonding. We have worked really, really hard and I definitely think we are ready to go tomorrow."

  Since taking the reins in 2021, Wiegman has grown fond not just of her players, but of England itself. She has embraced the country’s culture and its passionate footballing identity.

  “I really like the culture [in England]. It’s such a massive sports culture in England," she said. "And in the Netherlands, it’s also a sport culture, but here, at every corner, the whole day on TV, for example, there’s sports, either football or rugby or cricket. And if that’s not there, then there’s something else, but there’s always sports and football is so in society.”

Club América are set to make Alexis Gutiérrez their first signing of the summer, as the club has reportedly reached an agreement with Cruz Azul for the 25-year-old midfielder. The transfer is expected to become official in the coming days, pending final paperwork and minor details.

Sources close to the negotiation told ESPN that the deal is a permanent transfer, with América expected to pay around $6.7 million for Gutiérrez, a left-sided midfielder who came up through Cruz Azul’s academy. Berta was responsible for orchestrating high-profile deals for the likes of João Félix and Diego Costa, whilst also signing future Balon d’Or winner Rodri for just £16.5 million from Villarreal in 2018.

The Italian has been a major part of Atlético’s success on the field over the last decade, prompting Arsenal to earmark him as a top target for the sporting director’s job after he left the Wanda Metropolitano in January.

“Andrea Berta arrives from Atletico Madrid with an exciting reputation for Arsenal supporters in the transfer market,” said Sky Sports reporter Peter Smith.

“He also has a ringing endorsement from those he has done deals with, praised for his meticulous approach but also the way he conducts business. The man who signed Rodri, Antoine Griezmann and Jan Oblak in bargain deals – and sold two of those three on at a substantial profit – will be expected to live up to that billing in north London.

“The pressure will be on to deliver a summer window which brings an out-and-out number nine and a midfield refresh to allow Mikel Arteta’s team to take the final step in their pursuit of the Premier League title.

“Edu, Berta’s predecessor, overhauled the club with Arteta during his five-year spell at the helm. Now, with a talented young squad, including a depth of defensive options, the finishing touches need to be applied to turn Arsenal into champions.”

Berta could also turn to the free agent market in search of options. It is reported that Arsenal are contenders to sign Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich on a free transfer, and there was also serious interest in his teammate, Joshua Kimmich.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claimed last week that Arsenal were competing with PSG for the Germany international, as his Bayern contract was winding down at the time, and CaughtOffside shared a further update today.

The outlet reported that Arsenal made a “formal proposal” to Kimmich after contact with his representatives. Mikel Arteta’s side, though, will now have to move on from the versatile Champions League winner.

The Bavarians have confirmed that Kimmich has put pen to paper on a contract extension until 2029, which Plettenberg reports includes a salary rise to around £17 million-per-year, roughly around £327,000-per-week.

This comes as a slight blow for the Gunners, but they do have midfield alternatives, even if Kimmich has been lauded as a “phenomenal player” following his exploits in the Bundesliga.

“I see him as a top right-back, left-back, centre-back, No.6, No.8, No.10… he has the qualities to be anything,” said José Mourinho.

“I think he looks to me, very intelligent related to football, very intelligent, understands the moments of the games and understands the difference between positions and understands what he has to do here and what he has to do there.

“I think he’s phenomenal, an absolutely phenomenal player.”

After taking one step into the Champions League quarter-finals, Aston Villa now reportedly want to get another one over on Europe’s top sides in the race to sign a defensive target.

The only question that could remain this summer is just where Koulierakis will end up and whether it will be those in the Midlands welcoming a new star with open arms. Emery could certainly use with the depth and, as football talent scout Jacek Kulig described the Wolfsburg star, a “complete” defender in Koulierakis.

Since the appointment of Ruben Amorim at the end of November, Manchester United have had to adapt their playstyle to suit the manager’s 3-4-2-1 system in which he had so much success at Sporting CP.

The 40-year-old claimed two league titles during his time in Portugal, hoping to emulate his success at Old Trafford over the years ahead during his tenure as the Red Devils boss.

He’s wasted no time in making his mark on the side, moving out players who he doesn’t see as part of his first-team squad, providing the brutal nature that’s desperately been needed at the Theatre of Dreams.

Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia all departed on loan during Amorim’s first window in charge, highlighting that they aren’t in his plans going forward.

However, the same can’t be said for two players who appear to be an integral part of his plans if he is to lead the club back to Premier League glory under his guidance.

Captain Bruno Fernandes has been a crucial part of the United side since his big-money move back in January 2020, making at least 45 appearances in each of his full seasons at Old Trafford.

He’s started all but one game of the Amorim era, only missing due to suspension, registering five goals and five assists in his 19 outings, often being one of the main sources of goals in his attacking midfield role.

The Portuguese international has been joined by Amad Diallo in the final third in recent months after the manager brought him out from the cold after rarely being used by former boss Erik ten Hag.

Amorim’s decision to utilise the Ivorian has been a masterstroke, notching six goals and five assists since his appointment, including a hat-trick against Southampton which single-handedly won them the game after going behind against the bottom-of-the-table outfit.

The pair have been two of the main players to benefit from the change in management, undoubtedly being the key to any success at Old Trafford in the near future.

However, they could’ve been aided in their efforts within attacking areas had the club decided to pursue a move for one player, which one former first-team member recommended them to sign.

The talisman who Man Utd must regret not signing

Old Trafford has been the home of countless star strikers over the years, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Dwight Yorke all making themselves fan favourites during their respective times as players.

However, that goal threat is seriously lacking in 2025, with two senior options, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, only netting five league goals combined this season – undoubtedly contributing to their lowly standing.

It’s safe to say the club would be in a much healthier position had they secured a move for Erling Haaland after Ole Gunnar Solskjær pleaded with the hierarchy to sign the talent during his time at RB Salzburg.

However, they were unwilling to pay his release clause, with the Norwegian starring across Europe for the Austrian outfit, alongside Borussia Dortmund, before his eventual move to rivals Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

It’s a move that has taken the 24-year-old’s career to the next level, scoring 117 times in his 132 appearances at the Etihad, breaking the record for the most goals scored by one player in a 38-game Premier League season.

He fired Pep Guardiola’s side to the treble back in 2022/23, emulating that of the United side in the late 90s, with his goals playing a massive part in their success – with United’s loss their gain after failing to take the risk on his signing before he burst onto the scene.

Haaland, who’s previously been dubbed “world-class” by journalist Henry Winter, has seen his market value soar as a result of his deadly goalscoring form, now valued at £166m by Transfermarkt.

His subsequent value is higher than those of Bruno and Amad combined, with the pair only valued at £45.8m and £20m respectively, despite their success under United’s new boss.

A couple of years on from missing out on his signature, a decision not to land the attacker now looks to be a huge regret, with United passing up the opportunity to land a star who’s certainly up there with the very best in European football.

Bruno and Amad are two players who Amorim wants to build the side around, but they will struggle to reach the top of the Premier League without a clinical goalscorer – something which Haaland would’ve certainly offered had they decided to listen to Solskjaer’s advice.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has now provided an injury update on Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu after the duo sustained issues against West Ham United on Monday night.

The Blues made hard work of it, but they returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory against London rivals West Ham United on Monday night. Maresca’s side went in a goal down at the break, with Jarrod Bowen opening the scoring late in the first half, but a Pedro Neto effort and an Aaron Wan-Bissaka own-goal turned the game around after the hour mark.

The Chelsea boss was happy with his side’s performance, insisting it was a fair result in his post-match press conference: “We had more than 10 shots in the first half. We had clear chances in the first half but unfortunately, we missed the target. With some changes the game changed. Overall we completely deserved to win.”

The only cause for concern will be the fact Jackson had to be withdrawn early in the second half after sustaining a knock, before Guiu picked up an issue of his own late on, although the youngster was ultimately able to see out the match.

The Spaniard appeared to be hurt when he went down the tunnel, which will have caused some concern for Blues fans, particularly considering the transfer window closed shortly after full time.

However, Maresca has now provided a relatively promising update on the knocks sustained by the attacking duo, saying: “To be honest they both said to me that they’re okay so hopefully neither of them are injured.”

Of course, the pair will be assessed by the medical team, but it is encouraging that neither player was too hurt in the immediate aftermath of the game.

It has been a breakthrough season for the 19-year-old at Stamford Bridge, scoring six goals in as many Conference League games, so it is no wonder he has been handed an increasing amount of opportunities in the first-team set-up.

Jackson, on the other hand, has regressed somewhat since making a flying start to the Premier League season, failing to score in his last eight matches, stretching back to the 2-1 victory against Brentford back in December.

The 23-year-old has also consistently underperformed in terms of non-penalty goals over the past year, averaging just 0.47 goals per 90 despite an xG of 0.58 per 90.
